Proposed Schedule MHCA Mid-Year Conference 2016 Quality Measure Domain and Five Star DATE: March 1, 2016 TIME: Registration: 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m.; Session: 9:30 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Navigating the Five Star QM Domain can be confusing and frustrating. This session will guide you through each of the 11 Quality Measures that comprise the Five Star QM Domain and give you and in depth review of each. This session will provide you with guidance on how the MDS impacts your QM Domain Five Star score and also will help you understand the calculation and scoring rules for the QM Domain. Seminar Objectives: Review the eight long-stay Quality Measures that comprise the QM Domain of The Five Star Rating System Review the three short-stay Quality Measures that comprise the QM Domain of the Five Star Rating System Review the time period specification for which the QM domain is calculated Describe the scoring rules for the QM Domain of the Five Star Rating System Presenter: Nicky has over 18 years of experience in the long-term care (LTC) industry. She began her LTC career as a business office manager in a 60-bed skilled nursing facility in 1996. Promoted to administrator in 2001, Nicky has been active with all departments within the facility and has experience with operation management, budget analysis and accountability, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures, facility projects and improvements, and team building. Nicky also holds a Bachelor's of Accountancy degree This seminar has been approved for 2.5 Patient Care Hours toward the continuing education requirement for nursing home administrators. The Missouri Health Care Association is an approved training agency.

Discussion will include an update on current State Legislative Issues, Regulatory Updates, Quality Initiatives and Proposed CMS Changes. Legislative and Grass Roots Advocacy 101 DATE: March 1, 2016 TIME: Registration: 2:15 p.m. 2:30 p.m.; Session: 2:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. This seminar will include tips on the best way to talk with your local legislators: from Capitol visits to inviting them to your facility to showcase the exceptional work your home does and discuss the hardships that your facility endures to provide that care. Presenters: Nikki Strong, Nikki is the MHCA Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and Members Services. She oversees the member grassroots and political action programs as well as the MHCA Government Affairs team that is so essential in obtaining the resources and support necessary to provide and promote the quality care Missouri s poor, frail and elderly receive from MHCA member facilities. Nikki developed her passion for politics and governmental affairs from her grandfather who served in the Missouri legislature as a State Representative and then State Senator until his retirement after 18 years of service to Missouri. This seminar has been approved for 1.0 Administrative Hour toward the continuing education requirement for nursing home administrators. Al's experience also includes roles as a Medicare/Medicaid auditor for the State of Missouri, and a corporate accountant where he prepared cost reports for a multi-home, multi-state, long-term care provider. Al earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of MO, St. Louis and a MS in accounting from Kaplan University.
