COTA Dean s Office Frieda Brahinsky and Helen Brahinsky Fromson Memorial Scholarship Established By: This scholarship was established by brothers Robert and David Fromson, and their father Edward, in honor of Edward s wife Freida and her sister Helen through a scholarship for a first generation American or foreign-born American student pursuing a degree in music, musical theatre or dance. Frieda Brahinsky and Helen Brahinsky Fromson emigrated from the Ukraine in 1925 to escape religious persecution and their love of music and dance is commemorated through this scholarship. Art historians must submit a one-page abstract of a recent research paper. All applicants must submit a one-page proposal describing how the funds will assist you in your artistic development. Application Deadline: N/A Music Scholarships for entering students are based upon performance at auditions held each year. Decisions are made in consideration of the quality of the student s audition, the donors wishes and the school s needs. Scholarship amounts may range from modest assistance for one year to full-fee awards for four years. In some cases, scholarships awarded for one or two years may be renewed. Students should submit only one scholarship application to the School of Music. They will then be considered for all scholarships for which they may be eligible. Scholarships for continuing students are awarded based upon exceptional musical achievement, academic performance, and service to the School of Music.
