We will begin the competition at 0830 and finish NLT 1300. We ask that your team arrive on time as the event must conclude by 1300. So please plan accordingly. I. PURPOSE The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to familiarize the participants on the policies and procedures that are to be followed at the Oxford High School MCJROTC Drill Competition. All drill performances will be conducted in accordance with NAVMC - 2691/ AFMAN 36-2203 I Army FM 22-5. II. COMMANDERS' CALL / JUDGES MEETING A judges meeting will be held at 0730 (only judges are required to be present). All teams should check in at the registration table NLT 0750. All Cadet Commanders, SMI S and MI s must report to the Commanders Call at 0800 for instructions, last minute changes and any questions you may have concerning the competition. Judges will be from our local National Guard and Ole Miss ROTC Units. III. UNIFORMS The uniform for Drill is Service Dress uniform. Grading during the inspection will be based upon the wearing of the uniforms outlined in MCO PI020, AFI 36-2903, AFROTC 36-2001, ARMY FM -22 and any other service directives. For any questions from the judges, it would be wise to bring your service directives with you. All uniforms will reflect and uphold the proper military image and discipline. I IV. TEAM COMPOSITION/SIZE OF COMPETITION AREA The number of team members per event is as follows: The unarmed regulation / exhibition drill team size is 9 to 16 plus a Commander. The armed regulation / exhibition drill team is 9 to 16 plus a Commander. The color guard team size will be 4, including the Commander. Each school may have only one team per event. All regulation and exhibition drill competition areas will be 70 by 85. The color guard competition area will be 55 by 55. NOTE: Inspection sheets will be provided to each team upon check-in.
V. INSPECTION All members of the school's drill team must be available for the inspection. Each school should designate a cadet commander and 10 Cadets to be inspected. That is [10 cadets plus the commander making the total 11. In the event of inspection ties, the tie-breaker will be the commander's score. All cadets being inspected must be in their respective service dress uniforms and flight caps. Neither berets nor wheel caps are authorized by anyone during the inspection competition. In every event the team commander will advance its team onto the drill area and report to the head judge. The official time will start when the commander reports into the head judge and will stop upon reporting out to the head judge. Regulation drill will be in accordance with each school's drill manual. The service flag or state flag must not be higher than the United States flag. If it is, this will result in your team being disqualified. Team commanders are not allowed to use whistles or sequence cards during the competition. The team commander is required to memorize the entire routine. The calling of cadence is NOT allowed during competition No dancing, tumbling, or gymnastics are allowed during exhibition routines. VI. INDIVIDUAL DRILL REGULATION (IDR) A.K.A.= KNOCK-OUT The last event of the day will be IDR (KNOCK-OUT DRILL). Each school may enter as many cadets as they wish as long as they are in full uniform. Cadets will be eliminated after making a mistake. ALL COMMANDS WILL BE FROM NAVMC 2691 The senior judge and his judges will select the commands during knock-out competition. VII. TIES If there is a tie in inspection, we will go to the commander's score for the 1st tiebreaker. The 2 nd tiebreaker will be the score of cadet # 10 TIES CON'T: If a tie for the unarmed or armed regulation drill occurs, we will go to the team inspection score for the 1 st tiebreaker. The commander's inspection score will be the 2nd tiebreaker If there is a tie in the color guard performance the tiebreaker will be the school inspection score. The commander's inspection score will be the 2" tiebreaker. I If a tie on any of the exhibition performances occurs, the first tiebreaker will be the team with the least penalty points. The 2 nd tiebreaker is the team with the least penalty points for time. VIII. AWARDS CON'T Schools must enter in all categories except IDR in order to compete for overall trophies. A competition champion will be determined by the accumulated placed points for all events except IDR.
