Texas A&M also is in action this weekend, traveling to Dallas to take on SMU at 11 a.m. ET Saturday. During the course of each season, every team plays each of its fellow squads twice once at home and once on the road. For Georgia, Friday s competition is its first of the season. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 in the nation and are the defending NCEA Champions. South Carolina, the two-time defending Champion, is ranked fifth nationally and is 0-1 on the year after dropping the season opener at Kansas State. The Aggies are 1-0 after an 18-2 win against UT-Martin last week. Auburn, which is idle this week, is 1-0 on the season. Despite the being in only its third season of sponsoring equestrian, the four programs that comprise the conference have a long and storied tradition of success. In fact, every NCEA Overall Team National Championship in the history of the sport has been won by a current member of the. Equestrian Championship takes place March 27-28 at the new Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station, Texas. QUICK NOTES The 2014-15 campaign marks the third season of Southeastern Conference sponsorship of the sport of equestrian. At the Spring Meetings in Destin, Fla., in 2012, the decision was made for equestrian to become the conference s 21st sport. Four members of the - Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and Texas A&M - currently sponsor equestrian. The four current members of the are the only teams in the history of the sport to win NCEA Overall Team National Championships. South Carolina became the first-ever Equestrian Champion in 2013 and defended its title in 2014. The 2015 Equestrian Championships are slated to take place March 27-28 at College Station, Texas. Each team will face every conference foe home and away during the regular season. Georgia has talled a league-leading six overall NCEA national championships, including three consecutive from 2008-10. Auburn has won three national titles, while South Carolina and Texas A&M each have two overall national titles to their credit. Georgia is the defending NCEA National Champion.
