Attention to all students interested in community service and volunteer work the first meeting of the Key club will be held Today, September 9 th immediately following 4 th block, in the media center.

Mayor s Youth and Employment Program job and readiness training will be held all day Thursday, November 5 th in the media center for juniors and seniors.

When your teacher puts you on RED: Phone on airplane mode. Put away in your bag. 1 reminder will be given if violated before a minor SIR will be issued.

When your teacher puts you on YELLOW: Devices on silent/vibrate May be used with teacher permission Students will be returned to red for misuse.

Students will have to opportunity to learn about different career fields by becoming involved. The new Explorer Posts are listed on the CTE white bulletin board in front of Student Services. These posts will meet once or twice a month during school year. Students must RSVP to Mr. Sweeney and attend the first session. Questions, please see Mrs. Wayland in the Career Center (Room 637).

Juniors and seniors with a 3.0 weighted GPA, a good attendance and behavior record, have reliable transportation and can work during the summer should see Mrs. Wayland in the Career Center (Room 637). Appalachian State University s Multicultural Prospective Student Day will be held on Friday, October 9 th and will give students a first-hand view of the university. Students must have a 3.7 GPA and 1100 on two parts of the SAT or 22 on the ACT. If you are interested in being considered for this event, please see Mrs. Conner.

For the Levine Scholars Program you must be nominated by your counselor by October 15 th. This is a merit based scholarship that supplies full tuition and expenses to UNC Charlotte.

The Future Engineers Scholarship Program is for $5,000 and the deadline is October 15 th. This is looking for a student who plans to go into engineering and is an outstanding student.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program is for $1,000 and the deadline is November 3 rd. This is for a student who has made a meaningful contribution to their community.

Clemson University Lyceum Scholars Program is giving a $10,000 scholarship over four years. The application is available at www.clemson.edu/capitalism/lyceum.ht ml For addition information or questions, visit the Library.

Wendy s High School Heisman will be recognizing student athletes and students will be given the chance to be honored at the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City. Apply online at www.wendysheisman.com by Friday, October 2 nd.

UNC- Chapel Hill Morehead-Cain Scholarship provides tuition plus all expenses and summer opportunities for four years. Pick up a Morehead-Cain Questionnaire available in the Library. The completed questionnaire along with a resume needs to be turned in to Ms. Stone in Student Services by Thursday, September 17 th. Hopewell can have four school nominees, and students can self-nominate.

UNC Charlotte Levine Scholarship provides tuition plus all expenses for four years. Interested students need to see their alpha counselor by Thursday, October 15 th, to be nominated.
