CAMPAIGN OPPORTUNITIES Creating a world where patients and those who care for them are free from harm npsf.org
DID YOU KNOW: Studies suggest that preventable harm in health care is a leading cause of death. 1,2 Most people in the U.S. are likely to experience a missed, delayed, or wrong diagnosis in their lifetime. 3 Despite progress in some areas, about 1 in 10 hospitalized patients still experience a medication error, infection, pressure ulcer, or other hospitalacquired condition. 4 The National Patient Safety Foundation is kicking off its United for Patient Safety campaign, which will highlight and reinforce that all of us within the health care system have a role to play in keeping patients safe and free from harm. United for Patient Safety is an annual education and engagement campaign that brings together diverse organizations with a commitment to patient safety and the general public to learn more about the topic, start important dialogue, and take action for improved safety conditions. Join us for the United for Patient Safety Campaign which will serve as a dedicated platform for increasing awareness about patient safety nationwide. March 12 18, 2017, Patient Safety Awareness Week will launch an effort to highlight important issues related to patient safety and the organizations united in this mission while providing the opportunity for discussions, events, and engagement by those dedicated to this cause. 2016 Impact and Value 2000+ organizations participated in Patient Safety Awareness Week activities in 2016. 1,366 Health Care Professionals took the online campaign pledge to support patient safety.
