R&D Programme AAL 2 is an European funding program, running from 2014-2020, which supports R&D activities on innovative ICT solutions for enhancing services for ageing well and with a time to market of 2-3 years Driven by the Members States and financially supported by the EC (Art. 185 TFUE) and the MS Successor of Ambient and Assisted Living (2008-2013) 22 Participating States: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom, Budget: 350 million, of which up to 175 million from the EU
Program aims and goal Aim: provide innovative ICT based solutions, including products, system and services, to enhance older adults quality of life and to strengthen the industrial base in Europe Primary goal: improving the autonomy, participation in social life, skills and employability of elder adults and the effectiveness of health and social care provision With: involvement of the entire value chain (including the end-users)

Project characteristics Aims at ICT based solutions that meet identified end-users needs Realistic business case (time-to-market up to 2 to 3 years after end of the project) at least 3 independent eligible organizations (legal entities) from at least 3 different AAL Partner States, of which: one eligible business partner one eligible SME which can be the business partner one eligible end-user organization The effort of industry and other business partners (particularly SMEs) in each project is expected to be 50% or more (in p/m). Proactive end-user involvement throughout the life time of the project.

Call 2018 Smart Solutions for Ageing well The AAL Call 2018 will be published at the beginning of February 2018. Differently from previous AAL calls, it will have the following key features : It is open to collaborative projects developing ICT-based solutions targeting any application area(s) within the AAL domain, with a focus on specified markets. It allows for more flexibility regarding the scope, size and duration of the proposed projects It includes also small collaborative projects (duration of 6 months, a maximum co-funding budget of 300.000 and leaner application and reporting procedures), which are not funded by MIUR.
Call 2018 Smart Solutions for Ageing well The proposals must demonstrate a clear route to market and added-value for the different types of end-users. The solutions need to be embedded into the strategies of the participating end-user organizations, service providers and business partners. The wishes and aspirations of older adults in combination with the demands from the other stakeholders involved e.g. providers and payers - will have a critical role in shaping useful and attractive AAL solutions with a high market potential.
Call 2018 Smart Solutions for Ageing well MIUR will participate to this call with a budget of 900.000 euro

The following entities are eligible, providing that they have stable organization in Italy: enterprises, universities, research institutions research organizations Public and private IRCCS (including ecclesiastical institutions and nursing home, as long as they provide in the statutory purposes the execution of research activities) End Users Association MIUR Eligible participants
MIUR Legal/administrative/financial conditions The participant must not be defaulting with regard to other funding received by the Ministry. The participant must not have requested/got any other funding for the same project. The participant must respect the Italian law against "mafia". Companies must have the financial means to execute the project and a potential to use the results
MIUR Consortium configuration In every project consortium there must be at least one Italian enterprise. Universities, research institutions and research organizations can participate to a project only if there is also at least an Italian enterprise and only if the costs of the activities which will be carried out by the Italian enterprise(s) are higher than those of all the other Italian participants.
MIUR Financial conditions For any private entity, the following financial criteria, calculated using the data reported in the last approved balance sheet, must be fulfilled: CN = net assets (Capitale netto) CP = sum of the costs of all the projects for CN > (CP I)/2 which public funding has been requested by the participant during the year I = sum of the contributions received, approved or requested for the same projects OF/F < 8% OF = financial charges (Oneri finanziari) F = turnover (Fatturato)
MIUR National funding application In parallel and in addition to the international application, all Italian participants requesting funds to MIUR are requested to submit to MIUR an additional funding request. It must be submitted through a dedicated web platform: www.banditransnazionali-miur.cineca.it The submission deadline is the same as of the international AAL call. Any participant who does not submit its national application by the pre-defined deadline, will be considered ineligible.
