The Hill-Rom 900 bed Simply efficient

Trusted Reliability With over 85 years of history behind it, the Hill-Rom 900 bed features a wealth of technological innovations, assisting caregivers in delivering quality care for patients. Hill-Rom has incorporated the insights of generations of caregivers for inspiration and direction, in order to simplify and elevate the level of caregiving with the Hill-Rom 900 bed. The proven reliability of the Hill-Rom 900 in facilities around the world mean that caregivers in your facility will benefit from years of performance. The quality of patient care depends on the amount of time caregivers have to spend with patients. The Hill-Rom 900 bed offers maximum functionality with minimum complexity meaning caregivers spend less time and energy operating the bed and more time focusing on essential tasks such as safer patient mobilisation. 2

Exceptionally efficient, meaning more time to focus on patient care The Hill-Rom 900 bed was designed with operational efficiency in mind, focusing on ease of use and safety - for both patients and caregivers. Intuitive controls Bed controls with intuitive iconography allow easy access to bed functions. User-friendly features simplify daily caregiver tasks, whilst enhancing patient autonomy and comfort, allowing caregivers to spend less time operating the bed and more time caring for patients. One-touch EasyChair Optional EasyChair positioning offers patients the ability to quickly reach a comfortable seated position. Caregivers can also return the patient safely to a flat and low position, using a single control. Simplified cleaning and disinfection The High Pressure Laminate (HPL) sleep deck sections are easily removable for effective cleaning. Smooth surfaces and removable panels facilitate chemical or steam-cleaning and decontamination. Enhanced bed manoeuvrability The optional fifth centre wheel provides enhanced steering and turning, particularly useful in confined spaces. Positioned at the bed s centre of gravity, it reduces the floor surface required when turning the bed. 3

Intuitive mobility assists in promoting greater patient autonomy and faster rehabilitation The concept that safe and early mobility helps patients recover faster is supported by published clinical evidence. 1-3 The clinical issues resulting from restricted mobility, such as pressure ulcers, deterioration of muscle mass, weak bones, constipation and depression frequently impede patient recovery. 4-6 Mobilising patients brings benefits for not only physical functioning, but also emotional and social well-being. 1-3 Mobilisation is often complicated and risky to patients and caregivers. 7 Falls are the most frequently reported adverse incident in adult inpatient units, 8 and adversely affect both patients and their caregivers. 9-14 Healthcare organisations face increasing challenges to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and caregivers not only for the protection and well-being of the organisation, but also to minimise healthcare cost and avoid potential litigation. With this in mind, the Hill-Rom 900 bed features ergonomic capabilities designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of patient mobilisation. 4 1. Journal of Clinical Nursing, 2013. Safer, easier patient mobilisation Facilitating easier mobility The Hill-Rom 900 bed features functions to assist patients through different stages of mobility, from turning to sitting up, through to egressing the bed and standing. Flat positioning The optional flat position function moves the bed from any articulated position to its lowest and flattest position, just 38 cm* from the floor. Patient egress Simply press the optional egress position button to position the bed for a safer patient egress. Care Grip mobilisation The Care Grip handles, integrated into the split siderails provide support for a more secure bed exit, allowing patients to raise themselves to a standing position. * Depending on configuration chosen 5

Ensure a safer environment The optional intelligent nightlight* on the Hill-Rom 900 bed is green when the bed is in the lowest position, illuminating the floor space during bed exit to reduce the risk of falls. If the bed is not in the lowest position, the nightlight will shine orange. Brake-off indicator (optional)* Alerts caregivers if the brakes are not properly engaged. Low height indicator (optional)* Notifies caregivers if the bed is not in the lowest position. Bilateral high-low foot control (optional)* Allows for hands-free operation. Reduce the risk of patient entrapment Adjustable mattress retainers adapt to the width of the mattress reducing the risk of patient entrapment, allowing the bed to accommodate a wide variety of surfaces. One-Touch Shock positioning (optional)* Places the patient in a flat Trendelenburg position in an emergency. 6 * Depending on configuration chosen

Trusted reliability Hill-Rom quality The Hill-Rom 900 bed variable height system is designed to ensure solid reliability. Two attachment points, each on the base frame and on the sleep deck, distribute weight equally across the sleep deck for optimal lateral stability. Computer-aided simulation of stress on the lift arms helped determine the design, material and strength of these critical components. Designed for efficient service. The straightforward design of the bed, combined with extensive service capabilities from Hill Rom, will ensure that your healthcare facility achieves maximum return on its investment. The Hill Rom 900 bed offers safe and easy access to the main components in order to simplify routine maintenance operations. Only five tools are required to cover all maintenance procedures. Our patented release system allows castors to be removed and replaced horizontally from the side of the bed for easier and quicker cleaning or changing. Pendant controls have undergone extensive quality verification including spray, usage and drop tests. 7

The Hill-Rom 900 range The 900 series of beds are the flagship product for Hill Rom within the acute care environment, incorporating the same platform utilised across a range of beds in all areas of care. This facilitates easier training for staff who are already familiar and comfortable with the Hill-Rom platform, and more efficient spare parts management for care facilities. While each bed is designed to meet specific needs within a particular healthcare setting, Hill-Rom has built common features and functions across all of its beds to facilitate greater ease-of-use, meaning less in-service training for the caregivers and more time for the patients. Ease-of-use also contributes to reduced caregiver errors, enhancing risk management for healthcare facilities. Split siderails The siderails feature a smooth and fast self-lowering mechanism with dampening system that are activated with just one hand, lowering without disturbing the patient, and allowing for faster access to patients in emergency situations Easy-to-read angle indicators highlight head of bed elevation, assisting caregivers in positioning the patient The hip indicators help position the patient properly in bed, improving patient comfort and the need for frequent repositioning Available with or without integrated siderail controls for greater flexibility One-handed siderail release Siderails take up only 4 cm of bedside space Easy-to-read angle indicators 8

3/4 length metal siderails The double lock-out system on the siderails is designed to prevent accidental lowering of the rails A valuable aid to caregivers, the retractable egress handles can be raised in one movement and secured to provide firm support to the patient when getting out of bed Line-Of-Site angle indicator assists in positioning the patient to the desired angle of elevation Caregiver functions require separate activation before they can be accessed, to reduce the risk of accidental activation User-friendly pendant controls accommodate a variety of caregiver needs and encourage patient autonomy Double lock-out enhances safety Easy to clean sleep deck sections offer improved hygiene Line Of Site indicator ensures easy patient positioning 9

Compatible surfaces for the Hill-Rom 900 Transform outcomes through the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Hill-Rom offers solutions for the prevention of pressure ulcers and the promotion of wound healing. Synchronised bed movements A series of bed articulations ensure optimal comfort and posture for the patient along with minimal abdominal compression, shear and friction. The sliding backrest helps reduce the pressure exerted on the patient s midsection, making breathing easier. Enhanced patient re-positioning and pressure distribution are easily achieved using the electric Trendelenburg/ Reverse Trendelenburg. Intelligent AutoContour The intelligent AutoContour not only prevents the patient from sliding towards the foot end of the bed when raising the backrest, but also allows you or your patient to easily control the angle between the backrest and the thigh support for maximum comfort. When combined with the wide range of therapeutic surfaces, the Hill-Rom 900 bed can help to manage the risk of pressure ulcers. The Hill-Rom therapeutic surfaces collection includes an extensive range of foam, hybrid and powered surfaces Therapeutic surfaces incorporate a variety of technical features and functions, including I-mmersion sensors and advanced Microclimate Management. The combination of surfaces with the frame articulation options available from the Hill-Rom 900 are designed to enhance patient rehabilitation and contribute to the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.
