Test D: 2792396 12 A recruiting service that provides only video of prospective student-athletes and does not provide information about or analysis of prospective student-athletes is a permissible recruiting service. 13 During the month of May, it is permissible for an institution's basketball coach to lecture at a noninstitutional, privately owned basketball camp that is operated under restrictions applicable to institutional camps. 14 An institution may pay the air transportation for two parents (or legal guardians) to accompany a prospective student-athlete during an OFFCAL visit. 15 t is permissible for the head coach to donate money to a nonprofit foundation that uses the funds, in part, to operate a nonscholastic basketball team. 16 For purposes of the tryout rule and regulations related to camps and clinics, a prospective student-athlete is an individual who has started classes for the seventh grade. 17 t is permissible for an institution to provide hard tickets to an individual associated with a prospective studentathlete (AWP). 18 An institution's coach may be involved in nonscholastic based basketball (e.g., local club team) if the team includes the coach's child and the team participants are of the opposite gender than the team the staff member is associated with at the institution. 19 t is permissible for an institution to offer a different registration procedure, fee structure, advertisements, lodging, meals and awards for its men's basketball SELECT CAMP than it does for its other basketball camps. 20 An institution's basketball camp may ONLY be conducted during the months of June, July and August, or any calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that includes days of those months. Test D: 2792396 21 During a two-year period before a prospective student-athlete's anticipated enrollment and a two-year period after the prospective student-athlete's actual enrollment, an institution shall not employ (or enter into a contract for future employment with) an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete in any athletics department noncoaching staff position. 22 A basketball coach may NOT be employed, volunteer or guest lecture at a noninstitutional basketball camp and in which prospective student-athletes participate, even if the camp or clinic is operated in accordance with the restrictions applicable to institutional camps or clinics. 23 The institution would like to hire a local high school men's basketball coach to work its summer camp. The institution is not recruiting any prospective student-athlete from the local high school coach's basketball team and none of the local high school coach's former players participate in men's basketball for the institution. t is permissible for the institution to hire the local high school coach. 24 t is permissible for an institution to hire a high school men's basketball coach as a volunteer in a summer camp if the institution is recruiting one of the high school men's basketball prospective student-athletes. 25 A prospective student-athlete's nonscholastic basketball coach would be considered an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete (AWP). 26 A basketball two-year college prospective student-athlete would like to participate in an on-campus evaluation (OCE) during an upcoming official visit to the institution. The prospective student-athlete already participated in an OCE at the institution during the senior year in high school. Assuming the prospective student-athlete meets all other requirements of an OCE, this is permissible. 27 An institution may conduct an on-campus evaluation with a prospective student-athlete who has graduated from high school and is enrolled in a preparatory school if: A) The evaluation takes place during an official or unofficial visit. B) The evaluation is conducted after the conclusion of the prospective student-athlete`s season. C) The prospective student-athlete has exhausted preparatory school eligibility in basketball. D) All of the above. 28 During the summer evaluation periods, it is NOT permissible for coaches to evaluate at which of the following: A) Certified events. B) nstitutional camps. Test D: 2792396 29 When an institution's coach picks up a prospective student-athlete from the nearest major airport upon arrival for an official visit, the 48-hour period for the official visit starts at the time the prospective student-athlete arrives on campus, provided the prospective student-athlete's transportation to campus is without delay for personal reasons or entertainment purposes. 30 A non-coaching staff member with sports-specific responsibilities may not attend an off-campus athletics event involving prospective student-athletes (e.g., high school contest, sports camp) unless the staff member is an immediate family member or legal guardian of a participant in the activity and the staff member is NOT present to evaluate prospective student-athletes and does NOT have any direct contact with a prospective student-athlete or a prospective student-athlete's family member or coach.
