Purpose of AcadAME Awards Recognize the accomplishments of the members of the Fifth Episcopal District. Our evening also focuses on our youth by providing scholarships to encourage them to continue their education. To date we have awarded $52,400 in scholarships. INSTRUCTIONS WMS ONLY SECTION A Nominees must be AME and may include male and females. There are six categories; Education Church Involvement Community Involvement Business YWI You may nominate as many persons per category aforementioned per Conference. (Minimum number per category per Conference is two.) Each category must be represented. An AcadAME Award Template) along with a color 3x5 photo must be submitted pertaining to their category. Clergy Appreciation Award SECTION B One Clergy person (per Annual Conference) will be selected by their Annual Conference WMS Commission on Administration to receive this award based on his/her support of and involvement with mission work in your Conference. This nominee must be the Sr. Pastor of a church. A color 3x5 photo must be submitted with one typewritten page highlighting their support.
Traveling Trophy SECTION C Each category will receive a certificate and the Conference with the greatest involvement in the most categories will receive the traveling trophy. Conference Recognition Most new members in Conference year (Report due to Episcopal Third Vice-President no later than Monday, October 1, 2014). Most women enrolled under fifty years old (Report due to Episcopal Third Vice-President no later than Monday, October 1, 2014). Initiatives/new Conference Projects (Report due to Episcopal President no later than Monday, October 1, 2014). President worked closely with young people (Nominations will be made by Episcopal YPD Director). Missionary Extravaganza night (Episcopal Supervisor and Episcopal President will name Conference for this award). Outstanding Tanner Turner Memorial Breakfast Conference President Leadership Award SECTION D Commission on Administration is to submit a one page statement using our AcadAME Award template nominating their Conference President. Statement should include President s exhibited leadership skills and who positively conveyed and executed vision of Episcopal Leadership to her Annual Conference. Attendance to Mid-Year, Connectional Executive Board, and Planning Meeting will also be used as part of the selection process. Local President Award SECTION E Local society will prepare one page statement using our AcadAME Award template along with a color 3x5 photo explaining reason for nomination along with activities/events. Also include leadership qualities exercised/exhibited. MVM-Most Valuable Missionary Award Episcopal Supervisor will name recipient for this award.
ALL FUNDS RAISED IN THIS SECTION WILL GO TOWARD HANDY SIMMONS SCHOLARSHIP Handy Simmons Scholarship Scholarships will be presented the night of the AcadAME Awards. Students need not be present to receive scholarships. All students submitting Handy Simmons Applications to Episcopal Handy Simmons Commissioner are to submit a 3x5 photo and bio using AcadAME Awards Template. Deadline for submitting applications is September 1, 2014. Congratulatory messages may be placed for each nominee. See price list below. AcadAME Awards Special Guest Artist Patrice Morris is a native of Terry Mississippi, and an alumnus of Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, where she majored in voice. She is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Patrice, a gifted vocalist, songwriter and speaker, began her singing career at the age of five. Her beautiful soprano voice and energetic presence have established her in the gospel music industry as an artist with a purpose and passion. She has ministered in song with many prominent gospel artists, including Daryl Coley, Andre and Sandra Crouch, Marvin Sapp and John P Kee. She has also made national television appearances on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), Candi Staton's "Say Yes, "Bobby Jones' "Gospelfest," and Vicki Winans' "Singsation." Patrice's recording repertoire began with her 1999 debut release, "Trust Him." Her 2001 release, "Holiness is the Way," was followed by "All My Praise" in 2005. Her fourth CD, "In Your Presence," will be released this year. These projects highlight Patrice's proficient skills as a vocalist and composer. Patrice Morris is also a speaker, soloist, and praise and worship leader for a wide variety of events, including marriage conferences and women's seminars. Her own commitment to marriage and family has been the foundation of this extremely important part of her music ministry. Florence LaRue, the original member of The 5th Dimension, remembered hearing Patrice sing at a marriage conference and asked her to lend her amazing voice to the GRAMMY winning group when the group's soprano left to pursue other ventures. Patrice manages to maintain her busy solo career with dedication and excellence when not on the road with the group. In addition to her solo career and performing with The 5th Dimension, Patrice is an active member of the praise team and is on the ministerial staff of Cathedral of Praise International Ministries in Rialto, California were Bishop Craig W. Johnson, Th.D, is Senior Pastor. Patrice is grateful to God, her husband, Kenneth, and their three wonderful young adults for their love and support in helping her to manage such a blessed career with grace and professionalism.

Submit names no later than September 1, 2014. 144 Envelope Drive Our new and exciting 144 envelope drive is a three point program. Each Conference will receive envelopes numbered 1 thru 144. Ask persons to donate the dollar amount on the front of the envelope. Return funds to Episcopal Treasurer no later than August 1, 2014. These funds will provide Funds to award Handy Simmons Scholarships to those that apply and meet requirements. Funds to aide our Life Members attending the 2015 Quadrennial Convention in Indianapolis, IN Funds ($5,000) to each Conference to be spent at the discretion of the Conference WMS President
