Why we do what we do Imagine you or someone you love couldn't afford to do the things they loved to do because of fear or a disability. Over the last two years, hundreds of people in our community come out to support The Warrior House of WNY's signature fundraising event, the Metro 10 BUF v. ROC running event. Our goal? To raise funds and awareness for the services we offer injured military veterans. Over the last two years, the Metro 10 has established itself as the premiere family-friendly charitable event in Orleans County. Last year we were the largest attended running event in Orleans County in just our second year, outdrawing events that were established over a quarter of a century ago. In order to succeed in our fundraising goals we will need significant support from local businesses. About the Event The annual Metro 10 Race is entering its third year. Last year the event sold out with a cap of 300 runners and this year we will increase the cap to 500 participants based on the excellent feedback from participants. The 10 and 5 mile run/walk is a healthy competition that celebrates our regional differences. The event features live music and the awarding of a custom-made Metro Cup to the winning team. The 2017 event takes place Saturday August 19 in Albion NY. It starts and ends in Bullard Park. The Metro 10 is a fundraising event for the Orleans County based charity The Warrior House of WNY, which serves injured veterans. Over its first two years the event, race funds have been used to support several additional local charities as well. In its first two years, The Metro 10 has been the largest attended event of its kind in Orleans County. The running event and post-race festival celebrates the region and has provided a source of pride and economic benefits to the region.
