Summer 2018 Accelerated BSN Application Packet Please note: You may only be considered for one program in any given application period. If you submit this application, we will not accept an application for the Traditional nursing program. Application Deadline: February 1, 2018 Applications can be submitted one of the following ways: 1. Dropped in the School of Nursing orange drop box outside main office, AH 500 2. Delivered to Ahlberg Hall 541A 3. Or mail applications to: Kelly Eden Wichita State University Box 41 1845 Fairmount Wichita, KS 67260-0041 Completed Applications must be turned in by deadline. Completed application means each page is fully filled out. Pages 5-9 of this document and required attachments must be received or postmarked on or before February 1, 2018. All parts of the application must be submitted together. Applicants will receive a confirmation email to their WSU email address when applications are received. If you do not receive a confirmation email by Friday, February 9, 2018 please follow up at 316-978-5801. Required Application Attachments: 1. Unofficial transcripts from all coursework taken at universities outside WSU that is not already on your WSU transcript. a. DO NOT attach your WSU unofficial transcript 2. Testing score report (see Program Application Eligibility Requirements below) 3. Documentation of medical licensure, if applicable. (See Healthcare Experience page) Do not include recommendation letters. They will be destroyed. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Program/Admission Eligibility Program Application Eligibility Requirements: 1. Be admitted to Wichita State University (WSU) as a degree-bound student at the time of application submission. a. You can apply to WSU on-line at www.wichita.edu/admissions. Admission to Wichita State University and the College of Health Professions does not imply admission to the School of Nursing. 2. Meet MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: a. Overall Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher b. WSU GPA of 2.0 or higher 3. Testing scores meet one of the following minimum requirements: a. TEAS** minimum scores - Math 63%, Science 45%, English 60%, Reading 69% i. Students must sit and pass all 4 sections in one sitting to be considered eligible for the nursing program. The School of Nursing does not average scores, nor pick scores off separate score reports.

2 b. ACT + minimum composite score 27 c. SAT + minimum composite score 1125 ** TEAS V scores will be accepted for this application period. For more information about the TEAS test, see http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=nursing&p=/undergraduate/teas/ + Score reports can be ordered through the ACT/SAT website, accessed in your mywsu portal under Student Records or printed by your advisor by request if on file at WSU. Do not try to send your score report electronically. They must be printed and attached. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you meet with a College of Health Professions Academic Advisor prior to January 15, 2018. An advisor can review your completed prerequisite form (page 8) and determine your eligibility. Appointments may not be available in the immediate weeks leading up to the application deadline. Advising meetings can be in-person, over the phone or via email. Transfer Credit Evaluation Students with unevaluated college credit should immediately request transfer equivalency reviews by contacting the College of Health Professions Advising Center: 316-978-3304, option #2. Evaluations of transfer credit could take up to one month to process. Admission to Program Selection The following areas are considered in our selection process: Cumulative GPA. Science course grades. Cultural Diversity experience. Health care related work experience. Previous degree (baccalaureate or higher). Notification of Admission Status All candidates will be notified in writing by letter and e-mail of their admission status by no later than mid- March. Due to the volume of applications received, please, no e-mails or calls inquiring to the status of your application. Only call or inquire if your application was sent and you have not received your confirmation email after February 9, 2018. All notifications will be sent to the primary mailing address and your WSU e-mail listed on your application. The School of Nursing will NOT e-mail or respond to a personal e-mail address. Admission Requirements 1. Minimum grade of C/2.0 or better in all prerequisite courses 2. Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in 5 science courses: a. Chemistry/Lab, Anatomy and Physiology/Lab, Microbiology/Lab, Pathophysiology, & Pharmacology 3. All prerequisite courses completed and meet minimum requirements by end of the Spring 2018 semester Note: Admission is contingent upon maintaining and meeting all requirements listed above. No exceptions. Final admission is contingent upon meeting all GPA and prerequisite requirements at point of program entry.

3 If admitted, you will be REQUIRED to: 1. Pay a $600 deposit to hold your place in the program. 2. Attend a required Nursing School Readiness meeting on March 16, 2018. 3. Submit unofficial transcripts at the end of the Spring 2018 semester to Kelly Eden for grade and eligibility verification for non-wsu coursework. 4. Submit paperwork for a background check (see Background Check) Failure to meet the above requirements will result in your dismissal from Nursing School. Background Check Once admitted, a criminal background check is required prior to enrollment in the nursing curriculum as a condition for participation in clinical classes. A Social Security Number is required to conduct a valid background check. Licensure Upon successful completion of the nursing program, graduates apply to the Kansas State Board of Nursing to take the national licensing examination (NCLEX) to be licensed as a registered nurse. Applicants for admission should be aware that current Kansas law provides that no license, certificate of qualification or authorization to practice nursing as a licensed professional nurse, as a licensed practical nurse, as an advanced registered nurse practitioner or registered nurse anesthetist shall be granted to a person with a felony conviction for a crime against persons as specified in article 34 of chapter 21 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, as amended. Applicants should also be aware that the application form requires the applicant to provide a Social Security Number.
