JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: RESPONSIBLE TO: LOCATION(S): JOB PROFILE: GP Out f Hurs Driver Team Manager (Whilst n duty, the pst hlder will reprt t the Shift Manager) Based at BrisDc Operatinal bases thrughut Bristl, Nrth Smerset and Suth Glucestershire (BNSSG) and ccasinally required t attend BrisDc Headquarters at Osprey Curt fr training and meetings. This rle is a key peratinal rle fr the GP Out f Hurs Service. The ut f hurs perid is defined as weekday evenings frm 18.00 thrugh t 08.00 the next day, and 24/7 acrss weekends and bank hlidays. Jb Cntext The Bristl, Nrth Smerset and Suth Glucestershire health cmmunity is made up f a ppulatin f circa 900,000 peple and ver 100 GP practices. It cnsists f three acute trusts, three cmmunity health prviders and a range f ther prviders wh make a cntributin t the urgent care system. The GP Out f Hurs service is accessed via NHS 111. BrisDc prvides the GP Out f Hurs Service acrss the whle f the Bristl, Nrth Smerset and Suth Glucestershire health cmmunity. Jb Summary T primarily transprt clinicians t the hmes f patients in rder t prvide medical assistance, as well as transprting patients frm their hme address t ne f BrisDc s Primary Care Centres (PCC) fr n-site medical care. The pst hlder will als be respnsible fr the maintenance f the vehicle during each shift. At all times drivers must carry ut duties in a safe and legal manner ensuring that all vehicles are maintained and driven within current driving regulatins and cdes, principally the Rad Traffic Act and Highway Cde. At all times the pst hlder must act in a manner cnsistent with the cde f cnduct and appearance representing BrisDc and the NHS. Main duties and respnsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance: T be respnsible fr the vehicle checks at the cmmencement and end f shifts t ensure that the vehicles are radwrthy and fully equipped. This invlves the fllwing duties: Ensuring the car has adequate fuel fr the shift. When necessary, re-fuelling
the car using the cmpany fuel card Respnsibility fr safely lading and unlading the apprpriate medical equipment and supplies in the vehicle that may be required by the mbile clinician and driver, whilst adhering t all manual handling guidelines. Cmpleting the drivers check list at the start f each shift ensuring all necessary equipment/supplies are available and functinal in the car. **If the checks cannt be cmpleted fr any reasn, t cmmunicate this t the Operatinal Hst / Shift Manager n duty as sn as pssible. Maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep f the vehicles and reprt any faults immediately t the shift manager and cmpleting the fault ntificatin sheet Reprting any incidents which ccur including accidents in the car r lss f equipment at the end f the shift befre handing ver t the next shift. Transprting clinicians: T drive the clinician t patients hmes / place f residence safely and within the current rad and traffic act regulatins nting that this is nt an emergency service and speed limits and laws in accrdance with the Highway Cde must be fllwed at all times. Respnsibilities include: Planning efficient rutes in rder f medical pririty and gegraphical area. Fllwing instructins frm Wrkflw & Capacity Crdinatr (W&CC) and Shift Managers when assigning rder f wrklad. The W&CC decides this using the fllwing criteria: 1 st = Clinical Pririty (URGENT r ROUTINE); 2 nd = Gegraphical area. Perfrming curtesy calls t patients t cnfirm estimated time f arrival and patient data, any crrectins shuld be reprted t the W&CC. Reprting arrivals at all visits t the W&CC via cmpany mbile phne t allw management f the shift and wrklad. Prviding an escrt t the duty GP, if requested, in the patient s hme, assisting and supprting as required. Liaising with clinician after each visit t ascertain any drugs/equipment used and recrding n checklist, ensuring supplies are replaced. Accurately recrding all call details f visits, returning all Driver Lg sheets t base at end f shift. Maintaining the security f the vehicle at all times. Patient pick-up service: Picking up patients frm their place f residence when requested by the medical team and n receipt f a cmplete Risk Assessment frm. This may als invlve returning the patients t their place f residence after the clinician has cmpleted the cnsultatin. Other duties: Driving deliveries t ther destinatins at the request f the Shift Manager. This may include delivering supplies, prescriptins, medicatin, etc between sites. If there are n visits, the pst hlder will be expected t supprt the receptinist with patient arrivals. General Duties The Pst Hlder may be required t wrk additinal hurs t cver hlidays and sickness. Maintaining regular cnsistent attendance, punctuality, persnal appearance and adherence t relevant health and safety prcedures.
T attend all statutry and mandatry training curses and any curses specific t this rle. T be available fr staff meetings and meetings with management. Attend perfrmance and develpment reviews with line manager. Flexibility This rle prfile is intended t prvide a brad utline f the main respnsibilities nly. The psthlder will need t be flexible in develping the rle and in initial and nging discussins with the designated manager. The wrk is f a cnfidential nature and infrmatin gained must nt be cmmunicated t ther persns except in the recgnized curse f duty. Unauthrised disclsure f cnfidential infrmatin will result in disciplinary actin and may lead t yur dismissal.
