Slattery, Marine Corps League Det #206, NEWSLETTER, Feb 2015 - #2 "T4T provide over 500 toys for the kids of Passaic, NJ" December 22, 2014: Dr. Alex Bianco Mayor of Passaic joins the Monaco brothers, Dominick & Mario as they distribute over 500 toys to many happy kids made possible by generous donors. "All the kids said thank you" T4T with the Major of Passaic Dr. Alex Blanco (he is in the middle of me and my brother )we gave out about 500 toys "T4T @ DOJO"

Slattery, Marine Corps League Det #206, NEWSLETTER, Feb 2015 - #3 Final 2014 Marine Rose Program Outing Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market Lake Mohawk (L-R) Members Keith Butler, Monika Flaherty, Bob Stalzer on the last day of a three day event. 2014 Marine Rose Fund Events Very Successful "Final 2014 Marine Rose Program Outing" January 8, 2015: Marine Rose Fund Chairman Keith Butler "THANKS" all the volunteers who came out to donate many hours of their time, during 14 events held in 2014. Keith also thanks Co-chairman Jim Ward, past chairman Joe Donahue. TOTAL DONATIONS COLLECTED AT THE 14 EVENTS $18,632.46 " GREAT TEAM WORK" "TWO ORGANIZATIONS, A PRIVATE CITIZEN, Morris County Veterans Office JOIN FORCES TO PROVIDE A DONATED CAR TO A VETERAN IN NEED" December, 2014: This is how it works, Rich Wilkerson, Pompton Plains NJ wanted to donate a 4 cyl 4dr 2001 Dodge Stratus. Rich contacted Kathy Sturla Family & Friends for Freedom Fund informing her he wanted to donate the dodge to a veteran. Kathy contacted Mario Monaco, Slattery detachment wanting to know if there was a veteran in need of a car. Gunny had on file the name of a Navy veteran who needed a car. RESULTS: Johnathan A Navy veteran received the car with a full tank of gas, new brakes, four new tires and money for the MV UPDATE: when Johnathon picked up the car he didn't have a jacket on so Rich went to Kohl's and bought him a jacket - Thanks to Rich Wilkerson for improving the quality of life for a Veteran EUROGRADE CAR CLUB HELPS MARINES AT PICATINNY COLLECT TOYS FOR THE T4T PROGRAM "" In their first ever organized Toys For Tots Drive, the EUROgrade European Car Club Members collected toys from various locations throughout New Jersey fdor the Marine Corps Reserve T4T 2014 campaign. The Car Club is located in both Clifton and Mountainside, New Jersey. Their T4T Program was spearheaded by Tim Warchol who organized approximately 35 Car Club Members that assembled at Juicy Platters in Fairlawn, NJ; bringing with them the toys collected from various Toys For Tots Collection sites. In addition, the Car Club Members then picked up toys from 50 Walgreens Stores throughout Northern New Jersey. The Members then proceeded in convoy up to the Picatinny Arsonal Visitors Center where they were greeted by Marines and offloaded over 423 toys; 362 from various Walgreen Stores and 61 from Car Club Sponsored Locations. Kaitlin Butler organized the event. The management at the Irish Cottage in offered its customers 15% off their bill if they brought in an unwrapped toy. In addition; the employee's of the Irish Cottage Inn decided to purchase toys for the program in place of exchanging gifts with each other this year. Thank you to Owner, employees and customers of the Irish Cottage Inn for their support! "NEW HOME BEING BUILT FOR VETERANS" We received an e-mail from Assemblyman Anthony Bucco and Morris Township Mayor Bruce Sisler that a new home is being built by the Morris County Habitat for Humanity in Dover N.J. exclusively for veterans, that meet the low and moderate income housing criteria. Slattery, Marine Corps League Det #206, NEWSLETTER, Feb 2015 - #5 "THANK YOU FOR A VERY SUCCESSFUL 2014" Mario Monaco, President, Marines Care Foundation and its board of Directors, wish to thank all the wonderful donors, supporters, our members and volunteers for their continued generous donations, many hours of hard work together as a "TEAM" you do make a different in the quality of life for our Veterans, active duty military,wounded and their families. Through our programs that you support Mario Monaco "ALL MARINE NOTAM" Slattery Detachment responses to a Active duty Marine and his family in their time of need a Fire destroys their home and all their belonging, they were able to get out with only the clothes on their back January 2, 2015 Marines Care Foundation Officers; as you know, last Friday I picked up two $500 gift cards from Pete and drove them up to Stewart Air Force Base. Our POC, Amanda sent me the address of the hotel that Marine Sgt. Lopez was now staying at with is family. I met him in the lobby of the hotel and presented him with the two gift cards on behalf of the Marines Care Foundation and the Slattery Detachment. A $1,000 grant was also mailed out to Sgt Lopez Sgt. Lopez was so appreciative and told me that I don't know how much this means to him and his family that our Organization(s) stands by them in their time of need. He said that he wishes to personally thank everyone in our Detachment but he knows that he can't do that himself and has asked me to represent him and to do this on his behalf. So on behalf of Sgt. Lopez and his family, I say 'Thank You and Semper Fi' to the Slattery Detachment and the Marines Care Foundation. NOTE: After learning later that Air National Guard SSGT Pat Campbell home was also destroyed in the same fire. Financial aid a $2,000 grant was immediately mailed out SSGT Pat Campbell and his family. Keith Butler "110 members, spouses, guests attend the Slattery Detachments January 7, 2015 Holiday Social & Awards Dinner" Joining us were some very special guests, Gold Star mothers, Cheryl Doltz, Siobhan McConnell and the Parents of SPC Brendan Morrocco a quadruple amputee after an explosive projectile went through his vehicle door. Alex brought us up to date on Brendans progress. On December 2012 during a 13 hour amazing operation performed at John Hopkins Hospital Baltimore MD. Brendan was the recipient of a Double Arm Transplant. Briefly, Alex went on to say Brendan is able to move fingers in his left hand and is able to do things with both hands albeit slower than we would Alex & Kelly are hoping with two more years of therapy at Walter Reed Brendan will be able to come home to his house Alex saved the best for last, Brendan "CAN DRIVE" he has a specially equipped truck. IN FACT BRENDAN DROVE HOME FROM BETHESDA in the rain WITH ALEX driving behind in his car. WHAT A AMAZING YOUNG MAN. K9 Soldiers $15,000 to acquire, train an ADA certified service dog. Accepting JT Gabriel. The grant has already been made & the service dog is in training. 2. Family & Friends for Freedom Fund: $2,000 in monthly donations has been committed over a 12 month period for 2015, $500 from Marine Rose Fund, $1,500 from Marines Care Foundation, for direct financial aid to our wounded & their families. Accepting are Bob Sturla. & Mike Halligan In 2014 the collaboration between FFFF, Marines Care Foundation, Marine Rose Program, Legacy of a Hero Foundation resulted in direct donations to 24 Wounded Warriors & their families for a total of $43,500 3. National Marines Helping Marines $250 & Department NJ Veterans programs $500. Accepting Rosemary Fleming, Department NJ Commandant 4. Operation Jersey Cares $1,000. Accepting Tom Cunningham 5.
