Waikiki Wireless Soroptimist International of Waikiki Foundation, Inc. May 2017 2 President s Message Save The Date! The Soroptimist International of the Americas 45th Biennial convention is scheduled for July 30-August 2, 2018 in Yokohama, Japan, so we d like to start planning and saving now! Imagine how exciting it will be to have a large SIWFI contingent in attendance. My experience at the SIA convention last summer in Orlando was superb, and I learned so much about the wonderful people in our organization and the strategy for promoting our Dream programs. It was eye-opening to see the diversity of cultures and countries in which the empowerment of women is such a high priority. I left the conference uplifted and invigorated about the work of Soroptimists to make life better for women and girls. Then, there was also the camaraderie and exchange of pins, greetings, and smiles from far and wide. The SIA conference was informative, and most of all fun. So we ll start talking about possible ways we can assist and encourage everyone to try to make the trip to Japan. More to come Marsha McFadden Marsha McFadden SIWFI President SIWFI Members Buy Beautiful Roses SIWFI officers extend a big mahalo to the following members who bought roses: Judy Whitfield celebrates her passing the test for her Broker s License. Marsha McFadden bought a rose to thank Anita for her service to SIWFI. Mary Dixon celebrates the goodwill of SIWFI and the satisfaction and joy it brings to her life.
