A Warden 0413 2656274 PIMS is located 12 Kms from Puducherry on the East Coast Road with 32.89 acres of land. The campus houses a 710 bedded teaching hospital along with the various support and ancillary facilities required and has a built up area of nearly 7.5 lakhs square feet. The Hospital units started functioning in October 2001 after the inauguration of the Emergency Block in March 2001 by the former Chief Minister of Pondicherry, Thiru. P. Shanmugam. At present, the hospital has a capacity of 710 beds with the specialty departments functioning from January 2002. The medical college is affiliated to Pondicherry University and admitted its first batch of MBBS students in 2002-2003. Establishment College of Nursing, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2004 with permission from the Government of Puducherry No.17015/1/HS/2001 dated 28.05.04 for annual intake of 60 students. College of Nursing is recognized by Indian Nursing council (File No.18-33/1678-INC dated 26.10.04) and Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to Pondicherry University. The main aim of this institution is to inculcate the highest professional skills and to prepare students to work at the national and international level. B.Sc.Nursing The candidate should have: - Completed 2 years intermediate/hsc or equivalent course thereof, with subjects viz. English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized Indian University or equivalent. - Secured minimum of 50% aggregate marks in science subjects. - Completed 17 years of age as on September 30. 2. P.B.B.Sc. Nursing The candidate should have: - Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as Nurse & Midwife with State Nursing Council. - A male trained before the implementation of the new integrated course registered as an A grade Nurse with State Nursing Council, shall produce the evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery. 3. M.Sc. Nursing The candidate should have: Undergone B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council with minimum of 55% aggregate marks. 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ ST candidates may be given in accordance with INC norms. Registered Nurse and Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Council. Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing. Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing. 4. Anti Ragging Committee RAGGING FREE CAMPUS Discipline is next to Godliness. College of Nursing, PIMS strongly believes in maintaining a ragging free campus. Strict discipline is maintained among nursing students. This committee functions with a Judicial Committee where the representatives from each class get involved in supervision of students in maintaining discipline both in College and Hostel under the guidance of the faculty members. Hostel Facilities Accommodation is provided for students with mess and health care facility in the campus.
