KEYNOTE SPEAKER Alexandra Valentin The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center Friday, June 22, 2012 8:15 a.m. 9:45 a.m. With over 15 years in the hospitality industry, Alexandra Valentin began her career with The Ritz-Carlton Company in 1997 in San Juan, Puerto Rico in Food & Beverage. Following her tenure in the Food & Beverage division, Alexandra moved into Quality Management where she focused on The Ritz-Carlton s quality processes. She was later promoted to a Rooms Division Manager and was in integral part of the team in achieving top scores in the Gallup surveys. In 2003, Alexandra relocated to The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach as the Director of Learning before joining The Ritz-Carlton New York Central Park. In 2009, she took on the role as an Area Director of Performance Development for the Western Region and is currently a Director with the Leadership Center. Clinical Track: 11:15 a.m. 12:15 p.m. AORN Hot Topics Presented by: Jan Davison, MSN, RN, CNOR AORN In 2012 AORN added some new Recommended Practices (RPs) in their Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices for Inpatient and Ambulatory Settings book. In addition, some changes were made to existing RPs. This presentation will review those changes in an effort to assist the learner in the development of policies and procedures and provide orientation, education, and in-services to the staff on how to apply the changes to their ASC. This presentation will also discuss the necessary steps to develop quality improvement projects for managing compliance with the changes that were made in the RPs. business Track: Medical Identity Theft & ASCs Presented by: Judd Harwood, Balch & Bingham Medical identity theft and fraud are the fastest growing crimes in the industry today and protecting patient identity against these crimes continues to present many challenges. The session will discuss some steps ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) must take in order to protect patients and safeguard their entire operation.
