Guidance Office News: Good to Know Right Now: ISTEP+ TESTING: Date range is February 27-March 10. More information will be sent home when our dates are selected. (This will be for freshmen who will take the Biology portion, and the sophomores who will take the English and Math portions.) Don t forget to keep an eye on scholarship deadlines! Keep a schedule and start early! Many have a due date in January 2017! The deadline for our local ones through the Jasper Foundation is in just 2 months! DO NOT DELAY! ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND THEIR FAMILIES: This spring is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Juniors to take ACT date Registration Date April 8 March 3 June 10 (@CCHS) May 5 SAT Date March 11 February 10 May 6 April 7 June 3 May 9 1 SAT and 1 ACT test. Students are also encouraged to retake the tests this coming summer and beginning of next fall as their best scores are very useful for scholarship consideration starting in September! Free study guides are available on the Guidance Bulletin board! REMINDER: Juniors and Seniors have 4 college visits EACH year available as excused absences. Make sure you use them wisely! A completed form is due to the office 2 days before your absence. Forms can be found on the Resource Wall next to the Guidance Bulletin Board. Keep an eye on the Google classroom! National Honor Society- Knights Chapter Parents of Inductees: the KV Post newspaper will be uploading ALL Induction Ceremony pictures to their website in an album. Please remember to submit your $20 dues to Mrs. Rodriquez by February 6. Our first NHS meeting was this past week! Election for our officers will be next week! We re thrilled to have this awesome opportunity in full swing! Her personal essay, "Everything's Different," details the effects of dementia on a close-knit family. She wrote it for her grandparents. Congratulations, Brenna!

SPORTS NEWS Our first-ever Coaches vs. Cancer event was held on Saturday, January 14, and $350 was collected for the American Cancer Society! Thanks to all who gave. If you missed it and would still like to contribute, please send donations to the school office by January 31 (make checks payable to the American Cancer Society). Many thanks to the coaches, officials and fans who made this event such a success! The Covenant Christian Athletic Department is seeking applications for a Head Varsity Volleyball Coach or a Head JV Volleyball Coach. If you are interested in either of these positions, or know of someone who would be interested, please contact the school office by Friday, January 27 at 987-7651 or contact Athletic Director Dennis Lins at 987-2915. More News HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING FOR A WAY TO BE MORE INVOLVED IN THE DMCS COMMUNITY? The PIE Spring Pork Chop Dinner may be the answer! We have an immediate need for two more committee members to help plan and run this event. It s not a huge time commitment - a few meetings and one day of preparation/supervising on the day of the dinner are what s involved. Covenant Christian High School Open House - February 6 Do you know someone that is interested in what Covenant has to offer? Are they wondering if CCHS could be a good fit for their family? Invite them to come for a visit! Covenant will be having an informal Open House on Monday, February 6 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. (This is the same night as the 8th grade CPCS vs. DMC basketball games.) At this event they will be able to tour the school, learn about a faith-based education, and receive academic and extracurricular information.
