1 Welcome Message Salam sejahtera and welcome to the 9 th Malaysian International ORL-HNS Congress, in conjunction with the 37 th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists Head & Neck Surgeons (MSO-HNS). This meeting will be held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Malacca, Malaysia, from 4 th to 6 th May 2017. The meeting is slightly earlier than previous years as to accommodate other scientific meetings in the same month, as well as to have it before the beginning of Holy month of Ramadhan at the end of May next year. We are going to have the scientific meeting and AGM outside the busy city of Kuala Lumpur but still strategic to local and international delegates. We have lined up international speakers in addition to renowned Asian and local speakers to share knowledge and experience with the members and delegates. The theme of the scientific meeting is From Office to Operation Theatre. Special issues and highlights on Paediatric Airway, Hearing, Otology, Sleep Disordered Breathing and many more, will be discussed by the otolaryngologists, paediatricians, as well as other relevant experts. Topics in Otolaryngology pertaining to adults will also be discussed especially common head and neck malignancy, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and management with oncologists will have some slots in the symposia. Nowadays, many laryngology procedures are office-based procedure, for example, injection laryngoplasty and this topic will be discussed by the experts in this field during the scientific session. There is a Paediatric Airway workshop that will be held at Univeristi Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, and Tracheostomy workshop at Malacca Hospital for medical officers and paramedics as pre-congress workshop to complement the conference. Malacca is the capital of the state of Malacca, on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. Visiting Malacca is a unique experience with a rich historical and cultural background from previous Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. The city centre was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2008. Malacca is a rewarding town to explore and is about two hours from Kuala Lumpur. I hope all of you can spend time to join this yearly and largest event of our MSO-HNS and at the same time, to meet our teachers and friends including those from abroad. This conference will provide an atmosphere for intellectual dialogue and learning for the benefit of our patients. I look forward to seeing you in Malacca. Submission Of Abstracts The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for consideration as oral or poster presentations. Disclaimer Whilst every attempt will be made to ensure that all aspects of the Conference as mentioned in this publication will take place as scheduled, the Organising Committee reserves the right to make changes should the need arise. 4

5 Scientific Communications Delegates are encouraged to submit abstracts for free paper / poster presentations online to www.msohns.com Please log-on to our website for full details on how to submit abstracts. Please read the guidelines carefully before writing your abstract. Only Abstracts that conform to the given guidelines will be accepted. Guidelines For Submission Of Abstracts Abstracts are to be submitted in English. Organise the abstract under the headings: Title, Researchers (underline the Principal Investigator), Institution, Background, Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions. Abstracts of case reports will have the heading Report instead of Objectives, Methods and Results. Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently not accepted for presentation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author in accordance with the cancellation policy. Scheduling details and guidelines for the final preparation of accepted presentations will be included with the notification of acceptance. The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee. Abstract Preparation And Submission Abstract can only be submitted via the online submission system. Abstract should be formatted using the template in the website. Abstract must not be more than 300 words (inclusive of title and author(s) name). Title must be in bold capital letters at the top of the abstract. A maximum of five authors can be listed under author(s) name and institution. Presenting author s name must be underlined. Full instructions for submission of abstract is available on the website at www.msohns.com Graphs, tables and illustrations cannot be included in the abstract. Abstract Acceptance Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. Authors will receive a notification of acceptance from the Congress Secretariat by email. Papers will be accepted with payment of registration fees for the main meeting. Instructions For Poster Presentation Abstracts selected for posters will be presented as e-posters during the Congress.
