Scholarship Personnel/Glendale High School Christy Melvin Rotary Scholarship Chairperson ROSEBURG ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS The Roseburg Rotary Club will be offering high school seniors and Umpqua Community College students, nine (9) college scholarships for the 2017 summer-2018 spring term. Three (3) of the scholarships will be given to students wishing to attend U.C.C., or second year U.C.C. students in the amount of $1,500.00. Three (3) of the scholarships will be awarded to students wishing to attend colleges or universities other than U.C.C. in the amount of $1,500.00. Three (3) of the scholarships will be given to students based upon Need to a school of their choice in the amount of $1,000.00. The scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, room and board or books. Awards may not be carried over into future years. Scholarships awarded to the Colleges or Universities other than U.C.C. may be used at any accredited college or university, either public or private, in or out of state. Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements: Colleges or Universities other than U.C.C. - student must have at least a 3.5 G.P.A. U.C.C. (as a freshman) student must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. U.C.C. (second year student) student must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A., be enrolled full time and have completed thirty-six (36) credits. and have second year standing. Scholarship based upon Need is for all applicants that feel they have a valid Need basis and must list the reason for the Need in the About You section or you can provide an additional page with a personal statement. No minimum G.P.A required for Need.
Scholarship winners and their families will be honored at a regular Rotary meeting. The applications should be sent to the following address and post-marked no later than April 21 st, 2017. On a separate sheet of paper, write a paragraph (200 to 300 words), indicating your chosen field of college study and stating your reasons for this choice. Include pertinent experiences, activities, and accomplishments. PERSONAL REFERENCE: The committee would also like to see you through the eyes of another person.
