Recruiting for Vice President of Development FULL TIME, CAMBRIDGE, MA

ABOUT THE VERITAS FORUM The Veritas Forum is a fast-growing, strategic ministry that partners with Christian thought leaders, professors and student fellowships to support the intellectual credibility of Christianity in the university and broader public sphere. The ministry s core initiative, Veritas Forums, is a series of high-profile university programs that engage students and faculty from a range of worldviews in discussions about life s hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to those questions. The Veritas Forum also publishes thought-provoking content for broader audiences and provides a unique platform for leading Christian academics and innovators to become public intellectuals. The first Veritas Forum took place at Harvard in 1992, and today nearly 140 universities across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia host Forums, engaging over 36,000 students, faculty and university community members annually. Veritas is also in the midst of a season of significant expansion and innovation. We aspire to scale to over 300 leading universities globally with the proven Veritas Forum model. We are also launching new initiatives including: Veritas Cities: designed to engage young professionals in urban centers with the Veritas Forum model, in partnership with local churches and other ministries. Veritas Voice: investing in much more expansive fit-for-purpose online content to engage students, young professionals, and the broader public sphere. Veritas Labs: to design and test new initiatives that further the presence of Christian thought and formation across university life. Veritas fundraising is also growing rapidly, with total income more than doubling from $900k in 2011-12 to $2.3M in 2015-16, driven by an expanding donor-base, high donor retention and a strategic mission that increasingly resonates with our partners. In short, this is an excellent time for an experienced development leader to continue to build and lead the Veritas development team to the next stage of growth and impact.

DESCRIPTION The Veritas Forum provides a most needed spark for people to have the conversations about their beliefs; our culture offers scarcely few opportunities for these types of sparks which is why we support this strategic Kingdom work whole-heartedly. BEN CHELF, VERITAS BOARD MEMBER The Veritas Forum is seeking an experienced development professional to lead and oversee all aspects of the development work including team management, strategic planning, marketing and communications, donor prospecting, donor engagement, major gifts, foundation engagement and online fundraising. This role will be based in Cambridge, MA and requires travel between twenty and forty percent of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities will include: Create and execute a strategic funding plan, designed to sustainably grow income to annual income of $5M by 2021 (~20% growth per year) and be positioned for $10-$15M by 2025 to meet the growing needs of the university landscape and public square, including: Leverage Veritas 10-plus years of development data and external best practices to identify and design actions to increase donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, engagement and retention and to translate those into appropriate monthly, quarterly and annual KPIs. Continue to build and lead a lean development team of fundraising and donor engagement professionals, including: Identifying team needs in light of income targets, and designing roles and recruiting staff to meet those needs. Managing and coaching team members to meet development targets. Ensure opportunities for professional development and growth exist for development team members. Personally oversee and be responsible for a portfolio of major donors, including prospecting, cultivation, conversation, ongoing engagement and retention. QUALIFICATIONS Qualified applicants should: Be a mature and growing Christian. Their passion for Christ should be grounded in the regular disciplines of Bible study, prayer and fellowship with other believers in the context of a local church, and be evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit in their lives. Resonate with the thoughtful, rigorous exploration of the Christian faith and will connect well with donors who are highly educated, well-read and embrace a robust spiritual life exercising both the mind and heart. Have experience building and leading a successful development program and team, including: At least 7-10+ years of relevant development or sales experience within a highly performance-driven organization.
