Fayette County Tiger Battalion Promotion Policy 2017-2018 Established 1 September 2017
Section 1: Purpose A) To establish a policy in which cadets may be promoted and move up towards higher positions. Section 2: LET I Promotions A) LET I's may reach the rank of Corporal but they must a. Demonstrate good behavior and leadership potential b. Have less than 10 demerits c. A grade of no less than 85 in JROTC B) These ranks, Cadet PVT through Cadet CPL, may be based off of Cadet Officer Recommendations, or an instructor's decision. C) LET I's May also be promoted if they follow the above guidelines and pass a promotion test and/or recite the Cadet Creed in front of their peers with no mistakes. Section 3: LET II through LET IV Promotion Criteria A) LET II through LET IV's promotions may be based off of Cadet Officer Recommendations or instructor decision and cadets must: a. Demonstrate good behavior and leadership potential Pagel
b. LET II 's must have less than 5 demerits, LET Ill's and above must have 0 demerits. c. An 85 or higher in JROTC d. No disciplinary write-ups at FCHS B) LET IPs may reach the rank of Cadet Master Sergeant C) LET Ill's may reach the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant D) LET IV's may reach the rank of Cadet Major unless holding the position of Cadet Battalion Commander Section 4: LET II through LET TV Promotion Policy A) Cadets are promoted based on demonstrated leadership potential. Company Commanders can recognize these cadets. Recognitions can be achieved by doing the following but is not limited to: a. Excelling in a leadership role b. Going above and beyond the call of duty as a cadet c. Showing outstanding academic achievement inside and outside of the JROTC classroom d. Knowing, demonstrating, and honoring the Seven Army Values e. Must pass the Promotion exam i. LET IPs must score an 85 or above ii. LET Ill's and TV's must score a 100 Page 2
B) Company Commanders must positively counsel the Promotion Nominee. C) It is the responsibility of the Promotion Nominee to accept the counseling and to complete the Teacher Recommendation Form (Annex A) provided by the Company Commander. D) Upon successful completion of the Teacher Recommendation Form, the Promotion Nominee must submit their Promotion Packet back to their Company Commander. The Promotion Packet includes the following: a. Mandatory Information i. Copy of Positive Counseling Form ii. Completed Teacher Recommendation Form b. Optional Information i. Resume ii. Teacher Recommendation Letter E) Company Commanders will submit all completed Promotion Packets to the Cadet Command Sergeant Major. The Cadet Command Sergeant Major will review the packet with the Cadet Executive Officer and the Cadet Battalion Commander. F) The Battalion Command will conclude a PASS or FAIL for the Promotion Nominee. a. Fail Pages

The Cadet's Promotion Packet will passed up for completion through the Senior Army Instructor and the Army Instructor Section 6: Instructor's Review A) The Senior Army Instructor (SAI) and the Army Instructor (AI) Instructors hold the right to maintain rank, advance rank further than requested, or demote cadets at any time at their discretion. Section 7) Prior to September 1st A) Any ranks or positions earned before the 1st of September, 2017 will be maintained; this policy will be in effect starting September 1st, 2017. Section 8) Command and Staff Positions A) Recommendations for upcoming or open/available command and staff positions for the following school year must be completed prior to the 1 st of May of the closing school year to ensure adequate time for current Command to review and complete Promotion Packets.
