Degenfelder President C 310.740.0960 curt@degenfelderhealth.com Summary of Experience Curt Degenfelder is a national expert on community health centers (CHCs) with more than 17 years of experience in operational assessments, financial modeling, strategic planning, and analysis of developing Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and FQHC look-alikes. Curt has assisted more than 70 community based organizations and health systems in obtaining FQHC and FQHC look-alike designation for their clinics and supports clients with a broad base of grant and change in scope applications. Curt s clients have included hospital and health systems, HIV/AIDS providers, physician practices, managed care plans, and community-based social service organizations. Curt Degenfelder Consulting focuses on addressing a client s critical issues to help organizations evolve to their next-level. Curt believes that clients should receive strategic solutions that encompass health center operations from appointment scheduling to patient discharge, health center regulatory & reporting requirements, Board & community relations, and bottom line and cash considerations. He has developed effective approaches that enable CHCs to establish internal benchmarks that improve operations and financial performance and works with CHCs struggling to start each clinical session on time or have issues with front desk performance. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in developing Relative Value Units for enabling services and consults with clients on ambulatory care finance and operations projects. Curt has personally visited more than 140 clinic sites nationwide and is currently providing thought leadership to FQHC/ Prospective Payment System (PPS) payment reform efforts in several states. His analyses considers best practices, the impact of the patient centered medical home, full utilization of electronic health records, and regulatory & budget trends. Mr. Degenfelder frequently performs trainings for state primary care associations, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), and the Health Resources Services Administration. He is one of the lead trainers on nationwide trainings for NACHC entitled Financial and Operations Management (Levels 1, 2 & 3), Practice Operations Management (Levels 1 & 2), Establishing Effective Community Health Center Finance Departments and Strategic Planning. He has also led NACHC webcasts, which have presented timely trainings on over 60 topics of interest to health centers over the last six years. Curt has recently developed and delivered a presentation on Operationalizing Compliance to assist health center organizations in understanding how to meet OIG compliance requirements. Education Curtis received a B.A. in economics and history from Cornell University.
