Scholarships Available for Academic Year 2017-2018 Selected scholarship recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (unless otherwise stated), be enrolled as a student in the Lurie College of Education for the AY 17/18, meet the scholarship requirements as specified in AcademicWorks and must attend the Fall scholarship ceremony on November 3rd. Scofield scholarship offers scholarships to students in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must be enrolled in both fall and spring semester. Elden J. & Florence G. Belanger Scholarship Endowment 1 at $500.00 Sandra E. Belanger is a San Jose State retired faculty member and was a reference librarian in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library for 31 years. In appreciation of her parents and to demonstrate a commitment to learning, excellence and going beyond expectations, Sandra establishes this scholarship endowment. Students must be enrolled full time. Must be enrolled in both fall and spring semester. Preference may be given to applicants with any one of the following criteria: first generation college students, member of a single parent household, or single parent. Marla Duino Lenz Endowment 1 at $1000.00 The Marla Duino Lenz Endowment offers scholarships to students pursuing a career as a teacher or educator in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Masterjohn Scholarship 2 at $3000.00 The Masterjohn Scholarship offers scholarships to students in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must have applied to financial aid. William H. Sweeney Scholarship 2 at $1000.00 The William Sweeney Endowment Scholarship offers scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Child and Adolescent Development Department DeFranco Family Scholarship 2 at $5000.00 The DeFranco Family scholarship is available to students in Child and Adolescent Development major working toward a teaching career at any grade level, from early education through eighth grade. Jonathan Nobuhiro Memorial Scholarship 1 at $1000.00 The Jonathan Noburhiro Memorial Scholarship was established for students majoring in Child and Adolescent Development. Johnny was a loving person who lived life valuing family and community. At the SJSU Child Development Lab School, he formed skills that helped him navigate the obstacles he faced from a rare disorder. This scholarship extends his spirit for helping others and community. Michele D. Bee Education Scholarship Amount Varies The Michele D. Bee Education Scholarship is designed to support the scholastic goals of students committed to a career enriching the academic lives of severely economically disadvantaged children and adolescents. Career goals may include work in teaching, guidance and counseling, community organizing, child advocacy, or other related fields. The recipient(s) are required to attend the Lurie College of Education Scholarship Event. Students must be a Child and Adolescent Development major; upper division standing or graduate student; minimum GPA 3.3; enrolled at least half time: 6 units undergraduate, 4 units graduate; and have an interest in serving economically disadvantaged children. Richard Campbell Baugh Scholarship Amount Varies The Richard Campbell Baugh Scholarship was funded to help students in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education that demonstrate promise in the field of child nutrition. The recipient(s) are required to attend the Lurie College of Education Scholarship Event. Students must be a Child and Adolescent Development major; upper division standing or graduate student; minimum GPA 3.3; enrolled at least half time: 6 units undergraduate, 4 units graduate; and have an interest in serving economically disadvantaged children. Communicative Disorders and Sciences Department Dr. Colleen Wilcox Scholarship 2 at $1000.00 The Dr. Colleen Wilcox Endowment offers scholarships to students enrolled as an upper division/post baccalaureate or graduate student in the Department of Special Education or Communicative Disorders and Sciences in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education.

Meyerson Scholarship offers scholarships to students enrolled as a graduate student in the Department Communicative Disorders and Sciences in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must be enrolled full-time. Priority goes to students who are first generation college students. Counselor Education Department Elaine Anderson Memorial Endowment 1 at $1000.00 The Elaine S. Anderson Memorial Endowment offers scholarships to students in the Counselor Education program of the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must be declared a Counselor Education major, minimum GPA 3.0, enrolled full-time 12 units and apply to financial aid. Teacher Education Department Elementary Education Ada Louise Watters Scholarship 3 at $5000.00 Those eligible are full-time students in the College of Education who qualify for financial aid and have an objective of qualifying for a teacher credential. Priority will be given to students who intent to teach primary. Maxine Hunt Fink and Professor Jack Fink Endowment 1 at $900.00 The Maxine Hunt and Professor Jack E. Fink Endowment offers scholarships to students preparing for K 8 teaching in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must be California residents preparing for K-8 teaching. Pamela Mallory Scholarship 1 at $1000.00 The Pamela Mallory Fund offers scholarships to students who have strong interest in serving high priority schools in the Santa Clara County in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must be a matriculated SJSU student in the Connie Lurie College of Education, Teacher Education major. Heidi Westmoreland Teaching Scholarships 3 at $1500.00 The Heidi Westmoreland Teaching Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the Teacher Education Department. Priority will be given to a student who are firstgeneration college student, and needs to demonstrate commitment to teaching in high needs schools. Phil and Eleanore Anastasia Scholarship Fund 2 at $1250.00 The Phil & Eleanore Anastasia Scholarship Fund was established in the memory of Peggy M. Anastasia parents. The Fund will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the multiple subject credential program. Students must be in a multiple subject credential program, first-generation college student, and needs to demonstrate commitment to community service or is a member of a single parent household or is a single parent. Teacher Education Department Secondary Education Heidi Westmoreland Teaching Scholarships 3 at $1500.00 The Heidi Westmoreland Teaching Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the Teacher Education Department. Priority will be given to a student who are firstgeneration college student, and needs to demonstrate commitment to teaching in high needs schools.
Ilsemarie Casper Scholarships 2 at $2500.00 The Ilsemarie Casper Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the Teacher Education Department who is pursuing a secondary education credential. Priority will be given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to teaching middle school language arts. Joseph Scholarship 3 at $2500.00 The Joseph Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the Teacher Education Department who is pursuing a secondary education credential. Priority will be given to a student who demonstrate commitment to teaching vocational courses. Wenzel Family Memorial Scholarships 1 at $500.00 The Wenzel Family Memorial Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a Connie L. Lurie College of Education student in the Teacher Education Department who is earning a secondary education credential. Students must be enrolled in both fall and spring semester. Credential Students Credential students are students who are actively working on achieving their credential and are in the credential programs of either Counselor Education, Teacher Education, Special Education, or Educational Leadership. Charlotte B. Stelling Scholarship 1 at $500.00 The Charlotte B. Stelling Endowment offers scholarships to students who are seeking a teaching credential in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must have applied for Financial Aid and applied for or are enrolled in a credential teaching program. Claudia Greathead Scholarship 4 at $600.00 The Claudia Greathead Endowment offers scholarships to students in good standing with the University and who are post-baccalaureate credential students in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. The award is intended to be used to offset the student s state credentialing exam fees. Students must be a post baccalaureate student in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education, must be working towards a credential and must be in good standing. Doris Warren Shaw Scholarship 1 at $1000.00 The Doris Warren Shaw Scholarship is intended to help current SJSU students fund their enrollment as at least a part-time student and who have applied for financial aid. John and Peter Laznibat Endowment Scholarship 1 at $1000.00 The John & Peter Laznibat Endowed Scholarship was funded to help students pursuing their credentials in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education with the highest GPA. Students must be in a credential program, have highest GPA (3.5 or better) and be a U.S. Citizen. Margiotta Family Scholarship in Arts Education 1 at $800.00 The Margiotta Family Scholarship in Arts Education is intended to help current SJSU students fund their enrollment as at least a part- time student. Priority will be given to students in their first year and who have demonstrated commitment to the arts. Robert and Lorraine Pedretti Scholarship 1 at $1000.00 The Robert and Lorraine Pedretti Endowment is intended to help current SJSU students fund their enrollment as at least a part- time student.
Scholarships Across Multiple Departments Devore-Crumby Scholarship Fund 4 at $2000.00 The Devore-Crumby Scholarship is intended to help current SJSU students fund their enrollment. Students must be at least part time. Priority to students who are interesting in serving in a Santa Clara County school or community agency serving reduced/free meal or ELL students. Eligible departments: Elementary Education or Child and Adolescent Development Dr. Colleen Wilcox Scholarship 2 at $1000.00 The Dr. Colleen Wilcox Endowment offers scholarships to students enrolled as an upper division/post baccalaureate or graduate student in the Department of Special Education or Communicative Disorders and Sciences in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. This scholarship is given to a student in the Lurie College of Education, who fulfills the scholarship requirements. Eligible departments: Special Education and Communicative Disorders and Sciences E.A. Rocky College of Education Scholarship 2 at $1500.00 The E. A. Rocky Endowment offers scholarships to students preparing for a career in teaching in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Eligible departments: Special Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education or Child and Adolescent Development Helen Newhall Pardee Scholarship Endowment 4 at $5000.00 The Helen N. Pardee Scholarship Endowment offers scholarships to students planning to enter the teaching profession in the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Students must currently be enrolled full time, must remain a full-time student during the academic year in which the award is received, and have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Eligible departments: Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education or Child and Adolescent Development Marion Cilker Scholarship for Infusing Arts into Education 3 at $5000.00 The Marion Cilker Scholarship for Infusing Art into Education Fund offers scholarships to teachers in training. Award recipients are required to attend the Lurie College of Education Scholarship Event. Students must be enrolled in a teacher preparation program and have a 3.0 GPA or above.
