Programme Development and Delivery Officer Climate KIC Start-Up Programme (fixed term contract Jan 17 to Dec 17 with possible extension subject to funding) Innovation Birmingham Limited (IBL) has an exciting vacancy for a Programme Development and Delivery Officer to support and drive the Climate KIC Start Up Programme in the Midlands in line with the annual business plan and deliver on a range of start-up activities within the programme funded by European Institute for Innovation and Technology s Climate Knowledge Innovation Community (KIC) initiative. The role is initially for a period of 12 months commencing in January 17, however there is a possibility of an extension subject to funding. Reporting to the Head of Projects the job holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a range of European funded activities related to start-up support through the provision of effective and thorough coordination and administration. The post holder will have specific responsibilities for the delivery of the Accelerator project funded through the European Institute for Innovation and Technology s Climate Knowledge Innovation Community (KIC) initiative which is a programme designed to support start-up companies within the low carbon sector. The role will encompass all project coordination and administration tasks and in addition will recruit the required SME s onto the Accelerator Programme and subsequently support the community of SME s, managing their engagement with the project. There will be requirement to deliver a calendar of activity and organise any third parties and business coaches. Arranging events and carrying out all marketing and relevant communications activity will be a large focus of the role. Alongside providing regular management information there will be a need to create and maintain thorough records and financial documents and provide reports as agreed both internally and to external bodies as required within specific timescales. The role will be flexible to also support the wider IBL aims. You may be required to represent IBL at events maximising any opportunities to further support the wider start-up strategy of the organisation. The successful applicant will ideally be educated to degree level. Excellent organisational skills, a professional manner and attention to detail are pre-requisites as is an aptitude for delivery and task completion on time. You will be able to record data and present it in a useable format. You will be experienced in a wide range of technology including all
Microsoft Office applications and have a minimum of 2 year s funded projects experience. You must be flexible with your working hours, there will be a requirement to attend events outside normal office hours. You must be able to work unsupervised, use your initiative whilst also contributing to the wider team. Previous experience of coordinating events, marketing would be an advantage alongside essential previous exposure to European funded projects. Climate KIC Entrepreneurship funds the Start-Up Programme in the West Midlands region which contains a portfolio of activities including the Climate KIC Accelerator Programme; this is a programme designed to support start-up companies within the digital, technological and low carbon sectors. The Project Officer will coordinate the delivery of the West Midlands Accelerator Programme and supporting activities. This programme helps the most promising startups connect with the right experts to formulate their business plan, develop their entrepreneurial skills and, fund their business through the early stages. Duties and responsibilities Main duties Take full responsibility of coordinating and delivering the Accelerator Programme Recruit the determined number of SMEs to the Accelerator Programme Stakeholder enrolment and engagement Design and deliver the calendar of activity for the Accelerator Programme and any freelance/subcontracted personnel (e.g. visiting lecturers) Providing support for those attending the programmes from start to finish Producing regular MI reports alongside analysis on programme performance Coordinate the activity of the Head of Projects and Entrepreneurs in Residence Working closely with the Head of Projects to agree budget spend for determined activity General duties To carry out any other general BSPA tasks as requested.
