CHAPTER OF NAHRO 2910 Common St. Lake Charles, LA 70601 Phone (337) 564-5694 Fax (337) 564-5703 August 29, 2017 To: LHC Membership RE: Public Housing Manager (PHM) Testing & Certification Though HUD no longer requires certification for public housing managers, NAHRO and other professional associations feel that managers in the housing field should continue to meet and maintain professional standards. Therefore, these associations will continue to conduct manager certification programs. The training and testing sessions for the LHC NAHRO Public Housing Manager Certification will be held at the LHC Fall Meeting in Shreveport, LA at the Sam s Town Hotel & Casino on September 12 15, 2017. The training session will be Tuesday, September 12 th and the test will be given on Wednesday, September 13. The cost of certification is $200.00, an eligible expense that may be paid by the PHA. You can download the Application for this PHM certification, along with a study guide by going to the following National NAHRO website: http://www.nahro.org/sites/default/files/searchable/phmstudy2010.pdf If you or any staff member wishes to register for this certification, the application form is attached, complete it and return your check for $200.00 to LHC as soon as possible. We need to know how many will be participating in the training and testing sessions so appropriate plans may be made. Your payment is to be made payable to: LOUISIANA HOUSING COUNCIL. Persons who have taken the examination previously and wish to do a retake may do so at a cost of $100.00. Members of the LHC Professional Development committee will conduct the training session and monitor the test. When sending in your payment for the PHM Exam, please send a separate payment for your exam fee & registration fee. We hope all agencies will encourage professionalism in our industry by urging all Public Housing Managers to become certified PHMs. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, or Tonya Mabry.
