Exercise 1: 1a) Press release Workshop 1: Practical exercises - annexes: (Project logo) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRESS RELEASE Join the Joint Transnational Conference to find out how Transnational Cooperation Programmes help to improve quality of life in European regions! More than 600 participants will attend the first ever joint conference of the 13 transnational programmes running under the European Territorial Cooperation objective of the EU Cohesion Policy to meet with high level representatives from the European Commission and Polish Government representatives to discuss the future of transnational cooperation. The conference will demonstrate how this type of cooperation is addressing topics not covered by any level of governance and how it helps to improve quality of life in the regions. Who will be participating? More than 600 people will attend from the entire Europe plus representatives of the neighbour and preaccession countries. The event will feature high level speakers and panels including EU Commission representatives and Polish Ministries such as Elżbieta BIEOKOWSKA, Minister of Regional Development, Poland; Normunds POPENS, Deputy Director-General, DG Regional Policy, European Commission; Michel DELEBARRE, President of the Committee of the Regions; Jan OLBRYCHT, Vice-chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Regional Development. Who is organising the conference? The conference was initiated and is arranged by the 13 transnational programmes. It will be hosted by the Silesian Region and the city of Katowice and will be an accompanying event of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. When and where will the conference be held? The conference will take place from 15th September 2011 noon to 16th September 2011 noon in the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland.
