The basis, nationwide IoT and 4G networks, is already in place. South Korea aims to roll out its nationwide 5G network by 2019. One of the main recommendations for the introduction of 4IR is for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSI) to increase the R&D on related technologies in areas such as the semiconductor/display industry, IoTappliances, and Artificial Intelligence. MSI has to create 260,00 new jobs in the ICT-sector. The Korean 4IR plans have a large overlap with what is called smart industries in the Netherlands. The aim of this mission is to exchange information, search for joint R&D and joint business opportunities, and lay the basis for a long term cooperation in this field. 2
