DESCRIPTION OF EFFORTS For the first few months after the storm, Habitat affiliates focused its work on emergency housing assistance activities, including debris and wet drywall removal, mucking out, sealing roofs with tarps and small permanent repairs. During this early period, some Habitat affiliates also began to conduct flooring, insulation and sheetrock replacement, as well as interior painting. Similar emergency relief work was conducted on local churches and community centers.
