Background.. 2012-2013: Increased number of referrals from clients in community hospitals, residential nursing homes and service providers within the county. Wider range of disciplines involved in clients care. While SLTs identified need to provide dysphagia related training, historically there had been a low uptake of training sessions in the acute hospital in this area. We needed to develop training to meet the needs of the clients as well as the multiple service providers and care teams involved, doing so with reduced staffing levels, and balancing service delivery in the acute and community settings.
