I always advise families to get organized before they begin the process. It may help to create an excel sheet with university names, application deadlines, essay requirements, recommendations needed, school specific scholarship deadlines, etc. Senior students spent time in their Senior English classes early this month learning about the application process, finding potential scholarships, and getting re-acquainted with Naviance. Please know we are here to support you and your families during this process. There are many search engines to help you narrow down your choices including: Naviance SuperMatch CollegeBoard BigFuture College in Colorado Whenever possible, you should tour the school, talk to current students, sit in on classes, and ask plenty of questions to determine if the school is the best fit for you! Scholarship Opportunities Seniors should start their scholarship search as early as possible and continue their search throughout the school year. Scholarships are available for all sorts of things including grades, special talents, volunteerism, heritage, creative abilities, financial situation, and more. There are many resources available to search for scholarships: Naviance Family Connection- Scholarship List The financial aid web page of the college that you are applying to National search engines like www.fastweb.com, www.scholarships.com, www.salliemae.com/scholarships Sometimes, you can receive a larger merit scholarship from a university by improving your test scores. If this is the case at the university you are applying to, consider retaking the SAT or ACT in order to receive a larger scholarship. In the following pages, you will find four full ride scholarship opportunities that are available for senior students this fall. Please look them over carefully and have your students contact Mrs. Derickson as soon as they determine that they are eligible and interested in applying.

Quest Bridge Scholarship College Match Scholarship Recipients are granted admission to one of QuestBridge's partner colleges with a full, four-year scholarship worth over $200,000 each. Our partner colleges use a combination of their own funds as well as state and federal aid to fund the scholarship. This scholarship is offered as part of a generous financial aid package provided by the QuestBridge partner college that covers the cost of attendance, including: Tuition and fees Room and board Books and supplies The QuestBridge National College Match is designed for high school seniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite economic challenges. We do not have absolute criteria or cut-offs for GPA, standardized test scores, or income and we take a holistic approach in reviewing applications. When selecting College Match Finalists, we consider the following questions: "Does this student have the motivation and academic ability to thrive at one of our partner colleges?" "Has this student overcome socio-economic obstacles to achieve academic excellence?" College Match Finalists typically come from households earning less than $60,000 annually for a family of four, and often less than $50,000. This is not a strict cut-off and we encourage students who feel they have faced significant financial hardship to review these financial details carefully to see if they may qualify.
