PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) is a sequence of eight separate events, requiring progression along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner. The pass/fail sequence was developed to determine firefighter candidates ability to perform essential simulated tasks consistent with fire fighting.
