Step 2: Apply & Sign Application Roommate Profile Roommate Search Housing Agreement
Housing Portal Log In (Spring Residents ONLY): Students currently living in university housing have access to the online housing portal by logging onto their mysju selecting the how do I tab to view the screen below. Once on this screen select Access the housing portal button under the residence life section. 3
SJU Housing Portal: You are now in the SJU Housing Portal. This is the welcome screen and the first step for all students in the housing selection process. under Residence Life Self- Services click Apply for Housing this will advance you to the next step in the process. 4 4
Application Selection Page: Please select the Academic term for which the student is applying for housing and then click on the Save & Continue button. Fall 2017 UG (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Transfer Students) Fall 2017 Grad/Law (New and Continuing Graduate and Law Students only) 5
SJU Housing Portal: You are now in the Fall 2017-Spring 2018 Application. This is the welcome screen and the first step in the application process. Click below Begin Application to advance to the next step. There are 9 steps in the first part of the process. Students should not skip steps, or this will cause an error in the submission of your application. 6
Personal Details Review: Students will be shown their current personal details and required to submit emergency contact, missing person s contact and Health Insurance information for the next academic term 2017-2018. Complete the required information and Click Save & Continue. Students will not be able to advance to the next step if all information is not provided and email addresses are invalid. 7
Special Accommodations: This is the medical housing accommodation request process. If medical accommodations are required for a student applying to reside in University Housing, the student should read the process below and ensure to provide the proper documentation to the office indicated by the posted deadline. 8
Photo Upload: This is an optional step. Students can submit their photo to residence life to be used for roster and search purposes only. The photo is not viewable by other students with your profile. 10
Student Profile: Please be sure you answer all questions. You cannot advance to the next step until you do. This page will assist you in creating a student profile. Students should answer these questions honestly so that when using the roommate match search feature, the most compatible roommate matches will be provided. To advance in the housing portal, click the Save and Continue button once complete. 11
Room Preferences: This section will request your building and room type preferences. This information will only be used to assign a room to you if you miss your room selection online appointment. This step will not affect your eligibility for housing options during the room selection process. At least one choice is required; you may provide up to three choices, ranked in order of preference. 12
Roommate Search: The roommate search function will allow you to manage your list of accepted and requested roommates. In order to search for specific pre-determined roommates you will need their legal names. There are three ways to find a roommate.: search for roommates by details, search for roommates by profile questions, or browse matching roommates. If you browse matching roommates, this information is entirely based on answers to profile questionnaire. 13
Roommate Searching By Details: When you have a pre-determined roommate you will require their legal name and Birthday (numerically) to search them in the housing portal. Only if your roommate(s) have an application on file and you have searched for them, will they show up in this field. Here is where you would view profiles to ensure compatibility and submit a request. Although you have pre-determined your roommates you must request one another and accept those requests (must all be mutual) to be paired as roommates. 14
Roommate Searching-By Profile Questions: You can use the housing portal to search the applications currently posted in the system to view student profiles to find compatible roommate matches and request roommates. If any of the roommates listed are of interest you may submit a roommate request. Roommate requests go directly to the students SJU email notifying them that another student has requested them as a roommate. Students receiving roommate notification emails must re-enter the housing portal to accept that roommate request to confirm a mutual agreement. 15
Roommate Searching by Suggested Roommates: View your compatibility with other students the system suggests as good matches. If you are interested in any of these students as roommates, you may submit a roommate request to email the student. If the request is accepted, you are a match. Early in the process there may not be enough students to find a match. Check back as more profiles are set. 16
Roommate Searching Requesting Roommates: whether you are requesting a pre-determined roommate or using the housing portal to find your match, you must submit roommate requests using the portal as well as accepting any roommate request that are mutual. Roommate requests go directly to the students SJU email notifying them that another student has requested them as a roommate. Students receiving roommate notification emails must re-enter the 17
Roommate Search Main page: Your list of roommate requests will show up in the Roommate Search step as Requested Roommates. 18
Online Housing Agreement: Student will need to review the housing agreement terms and conditions and provide an electronic signature. The electronic signature will require the legal name of the student and the students X number. As a reminder the housing agreement is for the entire academic year (Both fall and spring semester). Please review the housing cancellation policy outlined in the terms and conditions. Students who are under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian signature. A confirmation email will go to your email on file. 19
Housing Application Summary: You Must click save & Continue and This concludes your housing application process. You may log out until you get your lottery appointment time. Lottery appointments are posted to the housing portal and notifications will be sent via email to your SJU email account on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Room search and selection will occur the week of April 3, 2017. You should have 2 green check boxes at this stage. The final check mark will come when you select your room and meal plan during your lottery time. 20
Next Steps: Lottery Appointments Lottery appointment times will be generated for students to select rooms and meal plans. Lottery appointment notification emails will be sent to students SJU accounts by Wednesday, March 22, 2017 21
Step 3: Room and Meal Plan Selection Select Bedroom & Bed Space Select Meal Plan
Email Lottery Appointment: Student will receive an email notifying them of their lottery appointment. The lottery appointment time is the earliest that a student can re-access the SJU Housing Portal to complete their room and meal plan selections. 23

SJU Housing Portal log in: Students not currently residing in the residence halls will enter the portal via the web link found in their email. Once at the portal welcome page student will use the Student number and password provided to them to log into the housing portal to begin the process 25
SJU Housing Portal: You have now returned to the SJU Housing Portal. Located On the tool bar above you will click Apply for Housing this will advance you to the next step in the process. 26
Application Selection Page: Please select the academic year located at the top Fall 2017. You will see the Green check boxes showing the previously completed application. You will select save & Continue to proceed to that application to complete the remaining steps in the process SELECT Fall 2017 HERE (UG or Grad/Law) 27
Personal Profile Description: When students return to the online housing application they will visit the roommate selection page where they can select to add themselves to the roommate search and update their personal profile description. 28
Roommate Review: Students will have an opportunity to review their previously accepted roommates prior to selecting a housing assignment. Students can select to keep roommates and continue, Delete roommates and/.or search for a specific roommate by Details (First and Last Name) 29
Roommate Deletion: if you select to delete your roommate you will see the following below to confirm the deletion. the roommate will then receive an email notification informing them that you have deleted the previous roommate request. 30

Search New Roommates: if you wish to search for a specific roommate to confirm prior to selecting your room you will search by details. Note do not request a roommate who already has been assigned. It will indicate Room Assigned next to their name. Students who have already selected their room cannot re-enter the portal to accept a roommate request or select another Assignment to pair up with roommates. 32
Room and Board Rates 2017-2018: Prior to entering the Room Search Wizard we strongly recommend reviewing the room and board rates before you select your room and meal plan for next year. Note the cost per semester is listed first then the cost per year. When you are ready to select a room click save & continue to enter the room search wizard. 33
Room search wizard: students will first view a list of buildings that may be available for selection. Note some buildings will show in your view list but there will be no rooms available for you to select due to special program only assignments (i.e. Ozanam scholars, catholic scholars, living learning communities). 34
Suite/Apartment search: students will view a list of gender specific suites or apartments for their building selection. They will select the suite/apartment they are interested in viewing for available beds by left clicking to highlight their selection in orange. Save & Continue 35
Bedroom search: students will view a short list of bedrooms for their suite/apartment they selected. The list will show the number of beds available in each room in the suite/apartment. The student will select the bedroom they are interested in by left clicking to highlight their selection in orange. Save & Continue 36
Room/Suite Preview: Students can view roommates, Suitemates, and bedroom square footage prior to committing to a particular space. To see room details you must select the small Magnifying Glass as shown. This is to assist you in your decision. Once you decide on a room follow the instructions on the next page. 37
Bed Reservation without roommate(s): students will view their bedroom selection and reserve a bed for themselves. Once the student has selected the bed they will click reserve bed. If bed reservation is not made within 5 minutes the bed space is returned to inventory and student must re-select the same or new bed space. 38
Bed Reservation with roommate(s): students will view their bedroom selection and reserve a bed for themselves and their pre-confirmed roommates. Rooms are only on reserve for 5 minutes. If bed reservation is not made within 5 minutes Bed Spaces are returned to inventory and student must reselect same space or new bed space. Assign yourself Johnny Thunderbird Assign your roommates Notes Do not leave this page without assigning your roommates. You cannot return to this page. You can assign your bedroom roommates, but not suitemates. 39
Meal Plan Options and Selection: students then select a meal plan. For those students who are residing in off campus apartment housing will have the option I do not want a meal plan. Meal Plan changes can occur between the completion of the selection process and the first two weeks of the fall semester. 40
Housing Selection Confirmation Page: Once all steps in the process are complete students will arrive at the final confirmation page. This page provides a summary of their housing assignment for the fall. Student can return to the portal to view this page as other students sign into their new suite/apartment to view profiles. 41
Final Confirmation: Students will receive (1) one confirmation email. Which will provide a link back to the Sju housing portal for access to view roommates as the process progresses. 42
My Roommate Picked My Room: Students who had a roommate assign them in the portal are required to return to the portal to self-select their own meal plan. Once the Meal Plan is selected and confirmed you will receive the confirmation email below. Pick Meal Plan 43
