INTERREG VA Programme (2014-2020) Eligible Area: Border Region of Ireland, Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. ERDF Programme Value: 240m Up to 85% maximum intervention rate. State Aid rules apply to all funded projects/initiatives. 20% of Programme budget can be spent outside of eligible area (if necessary to create benefits to the region). Projects must involve at least two Member States (UK & Ireland) and demonstrate crossborder cooperation.
Match-funding Must come from non-eu sources, may include: - national, regional, local govt., the project s own resources, or private. Contributions in-kind may be used. Arrangements for match-funding, which may vary per Programme theme, to be detailed in call for applications.

Enhancing Research & Innovation (R&I) - 45m ERDF Objective: Increase business industry-relevant R&I capacity across the region within Heath & Life Sciences and Renewable Energy. Result: An increase in the annual number of peer reviewed journal and conference publications with cross-border authorship and the potential to create economic impact. Outputs: - 514 years worth of PhD (or above) level research - 5 research institutions participating in crossborder, transnational or interregional research projects
Business Investment in Research & Innovation (R&I) - 15.9m ERDF Objective: Increase the number and capacity of SMEs and micro-businesses engaged in cross-border R&I activity aimed at the development of new products, processes and tradeable services. Result: An increase in the % of SMEs and microbusinesses which are involved in R&I involving crossborder collaborations. Outputs: - 1,408 enterprises receiving support - 469 enterprises receiving one-to-one innovation advice
Environment (Habitat & Priority Species) - 11m ERDF Objective: Promote cross-border cooperation to facilitate the recovery of selected protected habitats and priority species. Result: An increase in the % of selected protected habitats in or approching favourable condition. Outputs: - 4,500 ha of habitats supported - 25 conservation action plans delivered
Environment (Marine Protected Areas & Species) 11m ERDF Objective: Develop cross-border capacity for the monitoring and management of marine protected areas and species. Result: An increased surface area of habitats supported in order to attain a better conservation status. Outputs: - 1 network of buoys for regional seas - 6 complete marine management plans - 5 conservation support models developed - 1 system for the prediction of bathing water quality
Environment (Improve Water Quality in Transitional Waters) - 30m ERDF Objective: Will improve the water quality in shared transitional waters. Result: An increased % of shared transitional waters in the region with good or high quality. Outputs: - 10,000 people benefiting from improved wastewater treatment - 2 sewage network and wastewater treatment projects completed
Environment (Freshwater Quality in Cross-border River Basins ) - 20m ERDF Objective: Improve freshwater quality in cross-border river basins. Result: An increased % of cross-border freshwater bodies in cross-border river basins with good or high quality. Outputs: - 3 river water quality improvement projects completed - 50 cross-border groundwater monitoring wells - 1 cross-border drinking water Sustainable Catchment Area Management Plan
Sustainable Transport - 40m ERDF Objective: Promote cross-border, intermodal and sustainable mobilty in the region. Result: An increased number of passenger journeys (up to 25%) utilising cross-border public transport services by 2023. Outputs: - creation of one cross-border, multi-modal public transport hub - creation of 80km of new cross-border greenways - creation of a cross-border Electric Vehicle network
Health & Social Care - 53m ERDF Objective: To improve, on a cross-border basis, the health and well-being of people living in the region by enabling them to access quality health and social care services in the most appropriate setting to their needs. Result: An increased number of episodes of care delivered on a cross-border basis. Outputs: - Over 50,000 citizens in receipt of improved health and social care

PEACE IV PROGRAMME (2014-2020) Programme area: Border Region of Ireland and Northern Ireland Shared Education Children and Young People PEACE IV Programme: 229m (ERDF) Shared Spaces and Services Building Positive Relations at a local level Status: Under final negotiation
Shared Education Need: Create more opportunities to enhance young people s understanding of diversity, tolerance and respect for other communities. Build on existing shared education programmes. Objective: To create a more cohesive society through sustained and positive contact between schoolchildren from all backgrounds. Actions to be supported: Joint development of shared education initiatives; good relations courses; shared education training and development courses for teachers, etc.
Children and Young People Need: Support to be provided to support young people. Support will also be used to enhance general youth work provision. Objective: To equip young people with the necessary skills and attitudes to contribute towards a more cohesive society. Actions to be supported: Shared youth programmes; peer mentoring; training courses; cross-community and inter-cultural activities, etc.
Shared Spaces and Services Need: Creation of shared spaces to facilitate the integration of divided communities. The removal of invisible barriers between communities. Objective: To create a more cohesive society through an increased provision of shared spaces and services. Actions to be supported: Capital development projects and shared usage initiatives; public space regeneration activities; shared services to address the needs of Victims and Survivors, etc.
Positive Relations Need: Creation of a more cohesive society which addresses issues of isolation, polarisation, division, prejudice and stereotyping between different groups. Objective: The creation of a society where cultural diversity is celebrated and people can live, learn and socialise, free from prejudice, hate and intolerance. Actions to be supported: Inclusive civil leadership training; development of local partnerships to address sectarianism and racism; civil society development programmes.
