VOODOO NEWS American Legion Post #4 News Summer 2014 Published Quarterly Issue # 18 From Your Commander Kenneth Miller Summer has finally arrived and I want everyone to make a note that our August General Membership Meeting will be held on August 18th, due to officers attending the American Legion National Convention. On June 8th we had our annual flag retirement at 1:00pm. The Naval Sea Cadets performed the ceremony with great pride and dignity. We had a nice crowd at this years ceremony thanks to the article in the Macomb Daily by Linda May. A special thanks to the guys who helped to set up and take down the equipment. It took Rich Poole, Dan Lentz, Art Miller, Bill McInnis, Bill Stacy, Chuck Frederick, Scotty Hudolin, Lee Gunter, Dave Martinez, Duanne Oakley, Mike Poole and myself three hours twenty minutes to drape all the flags. Thank you Mike (Sarge) Parr for all the time you put in cutting the grass on our 6.75 acres. See you at the post, have a great and safe summer! May God Bless all of you and our Troops. American Legion Riders: Summer is finally here and we have started another great riding season. We have a lot of exciting and fun rides and events scheduled for this 2014 riding season to participate in. Check out our calendar on our website at : www.americanlegionriders4mi.com for details on our complete schedule of events. For more information on the American Legion Riders, please feel free to contact me. Tim Shosey Director 586-808-2580 From the Web Coordinator: Please keep sending your e-mail addresses. This has helped cut the cost of our snail mailing of the Voodoo News. We are in the process of creating a new website, we will have it up and available as soon as possible. The new website address will be: www.americanlegionpost4mi.com. If you have any suggestions for the new site, please e-mail us at: Info@americanlegionpost4mi.com News from the Post Adjutant/ Membership Chairperson This is my first official article as your Post Adjutant. Thank you for electing me to this position. Andy Knapp s Tribute was well attended. He was truly moved by your expressions of appreciation. I received the 2015 membership cards in late June. In an effort to save you and the Legion postage fees, I will be at the Legion on Tuesdays in July from noon until 4:00 to take care of your membership needs. I am also asking all PUFL and Earned Life to pick up their cards at that time. You must have a 2015 membership card by January 1 st, or your lounge privileges will be revoked. Don t let that happen, be an Early Bird. As always, you can drop or mail your dues to the Post. It would also be helpful for me, if you have a change in address, to please call me or mail the information to the Post. Another concern is keeping the records current of deceased members. We sometimes only know if a family member notifies us. Keep me busy, pay your dues. Please use your Lounge privileges and support the Post. Semper Fi, Adjutant Augie Miele 4
