Moving Up a Pay Grade Staff may move up a paygrade during the season if they acquire additional certifications and meet all the requirements of that higher paygrade. Moving Down a Pay Grade Staff may be moved down a paygrade if they don t meet the qualifications. Examples include: PSIA / AASI dues are not current, reduction in hours, number of actual hours worked the previous Accommodation may be made for injury, illness, or other unforeseen events. Downward adjustments will only be made between seasons, not mid-winter (barring unusual circumstances). The lowest pay grade for current PSIA/AASI certified level 3 staff is grade 3. The lowest pay grade for current PSIA/AASI certified level 2 staff is grade 2. Tenure Status which doesn t require meeting yearly criteria. If your Subjective Score is one or higher, and you meet four out of the following six qualifications, you will be in Pay Grade 6. - 15 plus years of Snowsports teaching experience - Minimum of 15 in house training hours in the previous season - Supervised in the Schweitzer Snowsport School for 3+ years - Current Level 3 PSIA or AASI certification - 200+ Request hours in the previous 10 year period - can teach Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and one other discipline according to department Standards New Staff with some experience Experienced staff who are new to Schweitzer will be given the following credit for the combined point categories of clinic, request private points, and subjective score. Level 3 = 6 pts. Level 2 = 4 pts. Level 1 = 2 pts. These are considered grace points. They negate the Req hours & teaching hr requirement on the pay grade. When moving up a pay grade during the season you lose the grace points. Your second year at Schweitzer you lose grace points. INCENTIVES Pay outs will be on the pay period following the pay period the benchmarks are met. Teaching Hours 100 hours = $50 300 hours = $200 150 hours = $75 350 hours = $250 200 hours = $100 400 hours = $300 250 hours = $150 Request Groups / Privates Request Group Lessons are for Funatics and Nice Turns (8-week only) programs only. 1 Request = 2 Request Hours. Request Privates is 1 request hour for each hour taught. For example: 3hr Request = 3 Request Hours To count as a request the guest must ask for the specific instructor at the time of sale. Request hours are given only if the instructor teaches the lesson. We cannot guarantee the guest, or you, that the requested instructor will teach that group. 25 requests = $25 100 = $100 50 requests = $50 125 = $125 75 requests = $75 150 = $150
Paid non-teaching hours Paid, non-teaching hours do not count towards hourly accruals for incentive levels. Paid, non-teaching hours would be things like paid clinics, guarantee pay hours, setting up/tear down of kid s area, and running the SunKid. Guarantee Pay Based on the following criteria: Attendance of the 8:30 department meeting and the 9:50 & 12:50 group lesson line-ups. You must also be available for assignments during the day, including the afternoon prior to the standard off-duty time of 2:30. If you do not work enough hours to equal or exceed your GP pay rate and you meet the above criteria, a percentage of your GP will be added to your daily wages to equal your full GP. Booking Order A lesson assignment is not set in stone but is listed by the desired amount of work, the pay grade, and point totals. Generally, staff who are sorted higher on the list will be assigned before lower staff. This is not a guarantee or an entitlement. The best fit for the guests needs will always be considered when assigning lessons. Other things that we consider are: fatigue levels of staff, who may need a perk/ happy lesson, who s turn it is to take a challenging/unpopular type of assignment. If a private lesson no calls/no shows and we don t reassign you in that timeframe, you will be paid one hour of non-teaching wage. The office will issue a Cancellation ticket and that is then brought to our payroll person to be entered for the day. Please note that some criteria has changed in this year s Pay System. You will not be moved down a paygrade because of those changes this year. Please take the time to educate yourself on what you need to maintain or possibly move up a paygrade for next Changes will be in effect for the 2018/19
