By requesting this package, you have taken the first step toward becoming a Cadet in America s oldest nationwide Cadet Corps The American Military Cadet Corps. For those who have the strength, motivation and personal courage to accept the challenge, we offer the privilege of earning the title of Cadet. AMCC traces its lineage to 1909 when a highadventure Cadet program was developed to provide new opportunities for young men and women in New York City. Since 1909 the program has gone through a number of changes and is primarily available to young people through our Military Adventure Camp that allows young people from across the nation and even the world to experience AMCC's superior summer training programs AMCC is run by a dedicated group of adults most of which are volunteers, most of whom are currently serving in America's Armed Forces or veterans. Any adult who wishes to become a member of AMCC goes through an extensive background check, and regardless of past experience, they go through our own training programs to ensure that they are the type of people who should be interacting with young people. AMCC provides a hands-on understanding of the mission and importance of our Armed Forces to young men and women ages 13-18 (some waivers granted to motivated 12 year olds). All recruits and cadets wear the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) the same uniform worn by today's U.S. Army. Nowhere else can a young person take part in training of this quality! If you are looking for something easy, there are other programs. Our program is not intended to "discipline" teenagers, but the training environment of our courses is very alike to that of the actual military, so expectations are high. Becoming a Cadet in the American Military Cadet Corps is a privilege reserved for those young men and women who have a strong desire to test themselves and to learn through first-hand experience the challenges of service in uniform. WINTER 2015 PROGRAMS (All programs are conducted at Military Adventure Camp unless otherwise stated). Cadet Pathfinder Course (CPS) A one week program focusing on basic orienteering skills, land navigation, and field survival in a cold-weather environment. The first days of CPS focus on skills training, before moving to in-field training. Exciting and challenging and the perfect way to spend your winter break before heading back to school. SUMMER 2016 PROGRAMS First Time Attendees (All programs are conducted at Military Adventure Camp unless otherwise stated). Basic Cadet Training (BCT) This two-week adventure is often known as "Boot Camp." Basic Cadet Training is physically and mentally demanding, with heavy emphasis on personal accountability and teamwork. Each Cadet Recruit is assigned to a platoon of 18-40 Recruits lead by a Cadet Troop Handler and trained by a qualified Drill Sergeant. Recruits will learn military drill and ceremonies, marksmanship, martial arts as well as participate in a number of High Adventure activities, but more importantly they will be challenged like never before! Upon completion of Basic Cadet Training, you will earn the title "Army Cadet," at a formal graduation. Basic Cadet Training is attended by all during their first summer, and is the foundation on which the other programs are built upon. A Recruit who does not have a burning desire to graduate will not make it through the program. Basic Cadet and Basic Leaders Course (BCT+BLC) An intense four-week program which begins with Basic Cadet Training and graduates into our Basic Leader Course. BLC provides advanced orientation in basic leadership, troop leading procedures, risk assessment, land navigation and field training, marksmanship, self-defense and team-building activities. Real-world leadership skills and experience, valuable for any young adult! Basic Cadet, Basic Leaders Course and TACMAP (BCT+BLC+TACMAP) Five weeks of the toughest, most fun training around! No other camp can help prepare you for a military career more than this. Not only will you go through Basic Cadet Training, as well as our Basic Leader Course, you'll also get a week worth of martial arts and selfdefense training based on techniques taught to our nation's Armed Forces. This is the Ultimate in Military Adventure Camp training for a first-time attendee.
Basic Cadet Training and Cadet Military Police Academy (BCT+CMP) An option for those attending the first Basic Cadet Training session this summer that are interested in a career in law enforcement and public service. This is a four-week program in total, with the second two weeks dedicated to training in criminal justice, with extensive scenario training and a focus on fire arms proficiency. SUMMER 2016 PROGRAMS Returning Cadets (All programs are conducted at the Military Adventure Camp unless otherwise stated). Basic Leader Course (BLC) A technically intense three-week program for graduates of Basic Cadet Training. BLC provides advanced orientation in basic leadership, troop leading procedures, risk assessment, water survival training, land navigation and field training, marksmanship, self-defense and team-building activities. BLC consists of a more in-depth curriculum that addresses more advanced knowledge needed by today's soldiers and gives Cadets the opportunity to learn about different military career paths through on-the-job training with our staff upon arrival. Cadet Ranger Challenge (CRC) The first half of the toughest program that we offer, the Cadet Ranger School! This is a three-week program, focusing on the same curriculum taught during the U.S. Army's Ranger School. Young people looking to attend this program must be extremely motivated and in great physical shape when they arrive at camp, pre-arrival materials will be sent out a few months prior to help you prepare for the challenge ahead. CRS is a very tough experience and will truly push you to your limits. It is strongly recommended that you attend BLC before CRC. Cadets must be 15 years old to attend the Cadet Ranger Challenge. Cadet Ranger School (CRS) The second half and completion phase of the Cadet Ranger School. This second three-week program builds upon what is taught during CRC and takes training to the next level. Completion of CRC is a prerequisite for participation in Cadet Ranger School. The Army Cadet Martial Arts Program (TACMAP) A one-week advanced martial arts training program based on rigid military standards, along with other high-adventure recreational activities. TACMAP utilizes MCJKKD as its main training format, which includes a combination of Self Defense, Judo, Aikido, Jujitsu, Karate, Boxing and Wrestling. Builds upon the training received during our other courses like BCT, BLC and the CRS programs. Eight hours a day total with four hours each for ground-work and stand-up fighting training.
HOW MUCH DOES MILITARY ADVENTURE CAMP COST? The costs of training are remarkably reasonable, averaging less than $160 a day, which includes the cost of uniforms. Training fees include three meals daily (including field kitchen meals or MREs), lodging, training materials, transportation during training and the costs of graduation. CAMP SOUSLEY Military Adventure Camp is held at our training facility, Camp Sousley. This 54-acre property was purchased by Military Adventure Camp in 2016, and an incredible amount of work has been put into the campus to make it into the premier training site for Cadetting in the United States. Enrollment fees are used for the continuing renovation of the facility. Camp Sousley consists of twenty-six buildings with large open areas. Large oak trees dominate much of the northern side of the campus, which creates a park-like setting for the property. The buildings include administrative spaces, air-conditioned barracks space for 200+ personnel, cabins for staff billeting, several classrooms, a training center and a dining facility which can seat 100. Camp Sousley is the premier training site for Army Career Exploration Training. Just 150 miles from Fort Knox and in close proximity to the Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park which has 525+ acres available for field training, land navigation, squad tactics and other realistic military training Camp Sousley is the Center of Excellence for Cadet training. QUALIFICATIONS TO ATTEND MILITARY ADVENTURE CAMP The AMCC offers equal opportunity to all young people, regardless of race, color, religion, or gender. Membership is open to young men and women, age 13-18 (12 with a waiver), who meet the following qualifications: Approval of parents / legal guardians. Citizens of the United States or foreign citizens with legal documentation. Attained their 12th birthday, but not yet reached their 19th birthday. Pass a qualifying physical examination (Health Form 2), similar to a sports physical. Crime-free and drug-free. Pass a telephone interview (optional, based on determination of the Admissions Officer). Be highly-motivated to attend! We do not accept young people who are "forced" to attend our programs. The Military Adventure Camp Initial Enrollment Form can be completed online as soon as you are ready to secure a spot for this summer. The Admissions Officer will process the paperwork and the payment upon receipt of the forms, unless there is a question of the young person's eligibility. You will receive a confirmation notification within 48 hours.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS All applicants must submit a completed Report of Medical History and Examination, completed by a licensed physician. Additionally, all applicants will receive a Physical Examination Verification upon reporting to Military Adventure Camp to ensure their continued physical qualification for the rigors of Military Adventure Camp. Applicants found to be physically disqualified, or requiring medications which have not been approved, will be immediately returned home at parent expense. Any medical condition requiring over-the-counter or prescription medication must be approved by the Director of Health Services no later than ten days prior to reporting to Military Adventure Camp, and a Medication Administration Fee will be assessed. Communications intended for the Director of Health Services should be sent to the Admissions Officer at camp@gomilitarycadets.org which will then be forwarded to the Director of Health Services. Applicants requiring psychotropic prescription medication may not be able to attend training. Applicants arriving at Military Adventure Camp with a preexisting condition, requiring prescription medication which has not been approved, will be returned home at parent expense and with no refund. All applicants will be administered the AMCC Physical Fitness Test (ACPFT) upon reporting to Military Adventure Camp. Those who cannot meet the AMCC Minimum Physical Fitness Standards will be assigned to a Remedial Fitness Platoon during Physical Training. UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT All participants will wear the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) which will be issued to them upon arrival at Military Adventure Camp. Included with the ACU uniform are boots, socks, undershirts and a belt. ACUs as well as other issued items are included in the enrollment cost. For a full list of what is issued as well as what is required to bring to training please visit our website at militaryadventurecamp.com, packing lists are located on the description page for the individual programs in question. Anything that is not on the packing lists is considered contraband, and will be confiscated upon arrival to camp and returned upon checking-out. COMMUNICATIONS HOME In line with our efforts to provide the most realistic training environment possible communication home for those attending our programs is very similar to trainees going through true military training. Recruits/Cadets who we pick-up from the airport will make a "safe arrival" call home either upon landing or the night of their arrival. Another phone call will be made 3-4 days prior to graduation. Otherwise, the primary method of communication is letter writing. Cadets attending advanced programs may be allowed calls home at the discretion of their Company Commander, and some may even be allowed to retain their cell phones for use after hours, but without deviation Recruits going through Basic Cadet Training will have their phones confiscated upon checking-in to camp. An emergency contact number will be provided to parents before the start of camp, but this is to be used for true emergencies only, not to "check-up" on your son or daughter.
TRANSPORTATION Parents are responsible for transportation to and from Military Adventure Camp. A Cadet or Recruit may pay an additional fee for either one-way or roundtrip transportation from the following locations: Lexington Bluegrass Regional Airport (LEX), Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) the Lexington Greyhound Bus Station, and the Maysville Amtrak station. Transportation will NOT be provided to or from anywhere else. If MAC will be providing transportation for a young person, then you must inquire with the Admissions Office about our policies regarding pick-ups and drop-offs. GRADUATION CEREMONIES AND PARENT'S NIGHT Formal graduation ceremonies will be held on the final day of training. The ceremony will typically begin at 10:00 am and will last around an hour. Full details will be provided a few days after Military Adventure Camp begins. Parents and friends are strongly encouraged to attend. Additionally, the night before graduation there will be a "Parent's Night" for friends and family. The campus will be open at 7pm unless otherwise announced, and the gates will close at approximately 11pm. I'M READY!!! Parents: Why Should Your Son or Daughter Attend Military Adventure Camp as Compared to Other Programs? VERY Realistic Training: Our programs are designed to be as realistic and challenging as possible. We are NOT a delinquency program, so ALL of our Cadets WANT to attend. No other program provides the same level of realism in training. Professional Staff: Our programs are staffed by a combination of AMCC officers and NCOs with many years of military and business experience, as well as professional Army Reserve personnel (Drill Sergeants, Medics, etc.) assigned to support our training. Dedicated Training Facility: Camp Sousley is used exclusively for Cadet training. Be wary of any Military Camp without a true campus and training site. Also, our facility is geared towards summer programming, and as such is uniquely prepared for that purpose. Many programs you will find are nothing more that summer schools in uniform. Career Exploration Program: There are some scary military camp type programs, which are designed for delinquents. At the opposite extreme, some school-based programs are more of a fun camp, rather than a military experience. No other program is as realistic as Military Adventure Camp, providing motivated young people a true view of military life.
