THE CHARLOTTESVILLE RADIO GROUP 1140 Rose Hill Dr., Charlottesville, Virginia 22903 Phone (434) 220-2300 Fax (434) 220-2304 April 26th, 2016 Dear Friend: The radio stations of the Charlottesville Radio Group (Newsradio 1070 & 98.9FM WINA, Z95.1 (WQMZ), 97.5 3WV (WWWV), ESPN Radio 1450 WVAX, and 106.1 The Corner (WCNR) have a long history of service to the greater Charlottesville area. This service includes support of many events, activities and non-profit organizations. In 2001 we began offering the Community Awareness Grants. These grants were created to provide an unprecedented level of marketing assistance and radio advertising for four worthy local non-profit organizations each year. These grants do not take the place of the Charlottesville Radio Group s ongoing commitment to dozens of worthy Charlottesville area non-profit organizations and the events and services they provide each year. However, the significant on-air visibility these grants provide to the recipients allows incredible top-of-mind awareness to tens of thousands of Charlottesville area radio listeners every day for an entire year. Through the Charlottesville Radio Group s Community Awareness Grant each recipient will receive over $69,000 in radio advertising time spread equally over our five radio stations through a marketing campaign to air August 1 st, 2016 through July 31st, 2017. We know that your organization can benefit from a Charlottesville Radio Group Community Awareness Grant and we do hope you will apply. All of the information regarding the grants and the Request for Proposal can be found at and downloaded from: www.wina.com/grant. The deadline for application is Friday, June 17 th, 2016. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, the Grant Administrator, at (434) 220-2305 or via e-mail at rick@wina.com. All past recipients are eligible and encouraged to apply! We are proud to be a part of this community and to offer this unique opportunity to organizations that are so important to the quality of life available here. We look forward to working with another set of four organizations in the new grant year. Sincerely, Rick Daniels Operations Manager / Grant Administrator The Charlottesville Radio Group

Request for Proposal: Charlottesville Radio Group 2016 Community Awareness Grant Our commitment: the number one priority is our clients; serving the businesses and listeners of Charlottesville with quality programming and superior services.

Charlottesville Radio Group Community Awareness Grant Background The Charlottesville Radio Group is a locally operated broadcast group that runs five radio stations in Charlottesville (WCNR, WINA, WQMZ, WVAX, and WWWV). Our radio stations have a long history of supporting and working with area nonprofit organizations in the realm of marketing and public relation campaigns. While there are a number of barriers that hinder nonprofits in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area, one frequently cited is the inability to adequately convey the organization s message to the community. It is our desire to assist four area nonprofit organizations in launching and implementing a consistent, long-term marketing campaign via a Charlottesville Radio Group Community Awareness Grant (CRGCAG). This grant (established in 2001) is issued to promote an organization and their mission or message through the use of our five radio stations. Process Overview The review process will have two rounds. A panel comprised of a cross section of Charlottesville Radio Group employees will initially review all submissions. This panel will forward up to seven submissions to the final selection committee for review. The final selection committee will be comprised of key community leaders. Recipients will be chosen based on the organization s history of community service, connection to the community, mission within the community, demonstration of need, population served and geographic region served. Each recipient of a Charlottesville Radio Group Community Awareness Grant will receive a yearlong series of sixty-second radio announcements on-air (valued at $59,488.00) and bonus commercials that will air on the online streams of WCNR, WWWV, WQMZ and WINA (valued at $10,290). A total of fifty five (55) commercials will be broadcast across all Charlottesville Radio Group radio stations over the course of each broadcast week and approximately forty four (44) commercials will air on the online streams of 1070 & 98.9FM WINA, 97-5 3WV, Z95.1 and 106.1 The Corner each week. Unused announcements will be forfeited at the end of the grant year.

Grant Eligibility To be considered for a Charlottesville Radio Group Community Awareness Grant an applicant must: Be tax-exempt under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code; Submit a written proposal to the CRGCAG board; Outline a marketing plan for the grant year; Select an agency representative to supply more information if needed; Submit three letters of support; and Agree that, if there are marketing expenditures with other broadcast or print media during the grant period that the largest of these expenditures be matched to Charlottesville Radio Group.
