1981 CamMnd History For VC-12 VC-12 is assigned to the Cmmander, Reserve Tactical Support Wing (COMRESTRCSuPPWING) with the mission to train Naval Bservists for possible mobilization while simultaneously providing aircraft services in sup port of operational training of Regular and &serve mits of the Navy and other armed services. These aircraft services include: Adversary, Air Ccmbat Maneuvering training, Defensive Canbat Maneuvering training, Air Intercept training, Air Search and Fire Control Radar Tracking, various types of aerial target towing and inflight refueling. 10 - CDR R. A total of 353 flight hours were accanplished in May. 10 - Tbo TA-4J Aircraft deployed to Naval Air Station, Cecil Field, Florida for three days to prwide VA-203 with adversary supprt and defensive canbat maneuvering training, 22.6 hours ere flown to provide 17 sorties. 17 - Tbo TA-4J Aircraft deployed to lhscon, Arizona International Airport for eight days to prwide the 162nd Tactical Fighter School with air canbat maneuvering support, 34.3 hours were flown to provide 24 sorties. 30 - VC-12 requested an increase in Fiscal Year 1981 flight hour funding. 313 flight hours were acmplished during June. 11 - Three TA-45 Aircraft deployed to Naval Air Station, Fallon, Nevada for 16 days to support CVWR-20 with orange air and adversary sumrt, 123.6 hours were 1- to prwide 53 sorties. 15 - Four TA-4J Aircraft were deployed to Plattsburgh, New York for six days to provide aerial banner and air canbat maneuvering support to the New York Air National Guard, 56 hours were flown to accanplish 48 sorties. 344 flight hours were accanplished during July. 25 - he TA-4J Aircraft was deployed to Naval Air Station, Miramar, California for ten days to support VC-13 and the Navy Fighter Weapons School, 23.7 hours were flm to prwide 13 sorties. 29 - VC-12 received a congratulatory message ran Cammder, Reserve metical Support Wing on the occasion of VC-12's 20,000th accidentfree flight hour. VC-12 marked its highest monthly flight hour accanplishwnt for Fiscal Year 1981 when it flew 444 hours in August. Chief of Naval &serve increased the VC-12 flight hour program for Fiscal Year 1981 as requested in June 1981. X-12 accanplished 313 flight hours in Septenber. 4 - Four 'lla-4j Aircraft deployed to Bagotville, Canada for six days to prwide air ambat maneuvering training and adversary support to the 425 AW(F) Squadron, 53.2 hours were flown to accanplish 35 sorties. 25 - Three?a-4J Aircraft deployed to Iuke Air Force Base, Arizona for six days to prwide adversary support to the 405th TIW/461 TTFS, 47.2 hours were f l m to accanplish 25 sorties. X-12 flew a total 328 flight hours in October. 7 - During a target dumny unit (TDU) tawing operation 'lla-4j BUNO. 153680 received minor damage to its lavier fuselage when the TIN struck the aircraft while being reeled in. 357 flight burs were flm. 9 - Four m-4j Aircraft deployed to MUIS Cherry mint, North Carolina for four days to provide air ambat manewering support to VMA 223, 31.2 hours of flight th were utilized to accanplish 27 sorties. 10 - 'IJA-4J BUNO. 153680 received minor damage when a target dmy unit (TDU) impacted it at high speed during a reel-in cperation. This mishap was caused by a malfunction of the tow line counter and a change was reccarnrrended to the A-4m-4 Tactical Manual Bcket Guide to provide appropriate emergency procedures. VC-12 flew 214 flight hours in December.
