ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME 2017/2018 ACADEMIC YEAR First cycle degree programme in Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication Second cycle degree programme (laurea magistrale) in Languages and Culture for International Communication and Cooperation Doctoral Research Programme in Linguistic, Literary and Intercultural Studies in European and Extra-European Perspectives Linguistic and Cultural Mediation students have the opportunity to study abroad within the framework of the ERASMUS+ Programme. The possible options are listed in the annexed table, which is part of this call for applications. Information The Erasmus Coordinator will hold an Orientation Meeting with students on 8 February 2017 at 14.00 in the Sesto Campus Lecture Hall (Aula Magna), Piazza Indro Montanelli 4 Sesto San Giovanni (MI). During the meeting, rules and procedures for the acquisition and conversion of course credits earned abroad will be discussed within the framework of the guidelines adopted by the Academic Senate. Interested students may also find information on the ERASMUS+ Programme on the University website at www.unimi.it/eng > International >Students Mobility Outgoing > Erasmus+ and on the School of Mediation Science website http://www.scuolamediazione.unimi.it/> Erasmus > Erasmus+ Specific requirements Students enrolled in first Cycle degree programme in Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication, students enrolled in second cycle degree programme in Languages and Culture for International Communication and Cooperation, as well as Doctoral Research students in Linguistic, Literary and Intercultural Studies in European and Extra-European Perspectives may participate in the selection. In their personal study plan students must include the language of each foreign university as their study language. Please note that most foreign Universities will only accept Erasmus students holding a certificate of language competency (IELTS, TOEFL, DALF, Common European Framework level B1, B2, C1, etc.). Students should check the websites of their chosen foreign University for specific language requirements.
Also note that at the University of Valladolid - Faculty of Translation and Interpretation (Soria Campus) and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, two places in each Faculty have been reserved for students who, having submitted their applications within the required terms for this call, intend to spend their study period abroad within the scope of the Double Degree Programme involving the University of Milan and the University of Valladolid (call for applications at www.unimi.it/eng > International >Students Mobility Outgoing > Erasmus+> Language mediation and intercultural communication Erasmus+). In the absence of successful candidates, the two places shall be assigned to students who have been deemed suitable among those admitted to participate in the ERASMUS selection interview. Please note that, for what concerns Aix-Marseille University e l Université Grenoble Alpes, places are primarily reserved to students that, submitted their applications within the required terms for this call, intend to spend their study period abroad within the scope of the Double Degree Programme with the above mentioned Universities. In the absence of successful candidates, the two places shall be assigned to students who have been deemed suitable among those admitted to participate in the ERASMUS selection interview. Prior to departure, ERASMUS students must be regularly enrolled on a University of Milan degree programme for the 2017/2018 academic year. Enrolment must be maintained for the duration of your stay abroad, with no interruptions. Enrolment procedures and deadlines Students may apply to as many as three Universities, indicating the order of preference. Students should then indicate the preferred semester of stay abroad for each university taking into account the duration specified in the call for applications. Application and personal information form (1) must be printed and submitted in hard copy to Erasmus Desk at Sesto San Giovanni Campus, during opening hours. A missed submission of the documentations within February, 28 2017 will be considered as a formal renounce. Students should have all of the foregoing documentation ready in the requested formats prior to beginning the application upload process. Students from other universities who have not yet enrolled at the University of Milan cannot submit their application online. Instead, they should contact the International Relations Office in Via Festa del Perdono 7, Milan. Email: mobility.out@unimi.it to submit their hard copy application. Pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003, the University undertakes to treat candidate information as confidential. All data provided will be processed exclusively for the purposes of the call for applications and to establish and manage the relationship with the University in compliance with current applicable legislation. Selection procedure Each candidate will be assigned an initial ERASMUS indicator score, which takes into account, with reference to the year of enrolment, the number of courses completed by the date of application, the average marks, credits earned and any other requirements set out in the call for applications. When submitting the application online, to calculate the ERASMUS indicator score, candidates are required to manually enter all exam marks not yet entered in the SIFA system. Self-certifications will be duly checked by the offices responsible for the procedure. Anyone making false statements will be prosecuted pursuant to the criminal code and the special laws as provided for by Article 76, Consolidated Law 445 of 28 December 2000. The interview will be held on 9 March 2017 at 9:00 in Sesto Campus Lecture Hall (Aula Magna). During the selection interview, the following will be addressed: 1. ERASMUS indicator score; 2. academic career up to the application submission date; 3. congruity of the chosen destination in relation with course exams to be taken, with special attention paid to the curricular languages and any research done in preparation to the final exam; 4. knowledge of the language of the Universities chosen. In addition, priority will be given to those students whose study programme includes the language of the university chosen (where indicated in the call for applications). Nevertheless, once all of these requests have been exhausted, the universities may be assigned to other student applicants. In the assessment of the academic career, the selection committee will give a positive mark to second cycle degree programme students who intend to use their stay abroad for the preparation of their thesis. Hence, one's thesis project should be illustrated in the field provided for this when filling out the Personal Information Form.
The final ranked list of students, set out based on the assessment of prerequisites and the outcome of interviews, will be posted at the Sesto Campus Erasmus Help Desk and on the web page www.unimi.it/eng > International >Students Mobility Outgoing > Erasmus+> Language mediation and intercultural communication Erasmus+ Final selection outcomes will be posted by 5 May 2017. Exams sat at the host university will be validated subsequently based on the Learning Agreement approved by the reference Degree Programme Committee. Credits awarded by the foreign University will be recognised on the base on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
