WELCOME TO CBHA Michelle Taylor, ARNP Michelle s growing up years were spent in South Florida. She then went to South Alabama where she received her Master s Degree in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. Michelle also received her doctorate in nursing from the same university. Teaching was also part of her past. She was a clinical instructor at Edison State College for three years and taught medical, surgical and mental health. Out of all the places she could have gone Michelle decided to come to Othello because she loves the small town feel. I like the community involvement and all the outreach that CBHA does and I wanted to be a part of it. After getting to know CBHA through social media and the videos that have been created Michelle really wanted to be part of the organization and part of the close knit community. Michelle decided that she wanted Michelle is married and has one to be an ARNP because ever since she daughter that is a senior at the was young she has wanted to help University of Southern Florida. She the helpless. My favorite part about enjoys going on hikes and loves being my job is meeting and working with outside with her family and two dogs. people. She loves getting to build When she is not working she also loves Dime Award personal connections with her patients. to craft. DRIVEN INDIVIDUAL MODELING EXCELLENCE It is with a pleasure to nominate Jose Rincon for the Drive Individual Modeling Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding customer service and the perfect implementation of AIDET. Jose is an outstanding Patient Service Representative. I have known Jose for a long period of time since we were High School classmates. He clearly recognizes the impact that the organization has had on his life and in our department. We have seen how he has been a good asset in using AIDET and providing the best customer service. JOSE RINCON PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE I personally have noticed how Jose is growing and learning from his peers. He takes everything he is taught to achieve his work goals but also goes above and beyond to achieve the best experience with the patient and provide excellent customer service. I had the opportunity to work with him during his training and I noticed that Jose possesses exceptional communication skills; it s really easy for him to communicate effectively with patients. For this and more, I think Jose Rincon should be awarded the DIME Award. NOMINATED BY GILBERTO LARA CANDIDIO VITAL SIGNS PAGE 2

Debbie Hamm began her tenure as a CBHA employee when 14th Avenue Medical Center and Columbia Basin Health Association merged in 2004. However, her career in nursing began many years before that - in 1976, when she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She then worked at the Othello Hospital for ten years during which time she earned her RN degree. Following that, she worked at Avalon Care Center for a number of years. Debbie has seen lots of change in the time she has been at CBHA. We now have many MAs, she said. CBHA has also updated and added technology that allows us to provide new services and greatly improve the care we provide for our patients. I remember, when I began my nursing career, IV s were in glass bottles; we had to calculate the IV drips the dose as well as the rate the medication was infused. We didn t have IV pumps. Debbie Hamm, RN CELEBRATES 13 YEARS AT CBHA! Debbie is quick to reply everything when asked why she has stayed at CBHA all this time. I have learned so much from my supervisors, coworkers; everyone is so willing to share knowledge, she said. We all learn from each other medical providers, nurses, ancillary staff, everyone! Debbie is equally enthusiastic when asked what has kept her in health care. It s all about the patient everything we do. I do have a special place in my heart for the elderly. Debbie s personal interests in her off time revolve around her grandchildren and her exercise sessions. Zumba is in my blood! she said. Six years ago Greg hired an instructor and offered Zumba classes to Debbie s life are her grandchildren, Ayden the community. I took those classes and two and a half and Charlie who is sixteen have been doing Zumba ever since! It s a months old. They live in the Tri Cities so she great way to stay in shape. gets to see them a lot. Debbie also likes to Dental Assistant The other compelling interest and joy in garden and enjoys her Pet Rescue dog. OF THE MONTH - JULY 2017 RUBY GARCIA Please join me in congratulating Ruby Garcia in her achievement of Dental Assistant of the Month. Ruby was recognized by her co-workers and Supervisor Sarah Salsbury for consistently working hard. If you have worked with Ruby then you know that bringing patients back on time and practicing AIDET is always her priority. Ruby is an amazing General Dentistry, Ortho and Implant assistant. Great job Ruby Thank you for your continued commitment to our organization. You Rock!! VITAL SIGNS PAGE 4

PROVIDER SHOUT OUTS Mr. Beauchamp is very informative and is not afraid to answer my questions. He knows how to read a chart well. I was very impressed with him and happy with him as the replacement for the doctor that left. Dr. Elali seemed to really care about my child. He seemed to understand my concern for my daughter's rash. He was very kind and wanted me to be sure that everything would be ok. Dr. Miron Carcamo considered all of my needs. He was very nice and explained everything he would be doing. He went over the temporary filling and explained why I needed to come back. Dr. Idrogo has been very nice. She greeted me well. Everyone is very nice here. My teeth look great. I did not wait at all. The center is very clean. UPCOMING EVENTS AUGUST 5... Othello Community Health Fair 5...Mattawa Community Days 13 19...
