ACM Scholarships A.Y. 2018_19 Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM) scholarships for Academic Year 2018_2019 are available for the following courses: Bachelor s Degree (180 credits ECTS) 3 academic years - Costume & Fashion - Fashion Communication: Fashion Editor Styling & Communication - Media Design & Multimedia Arts Master s Degree (60 credits ECTS) 1 academic year - Art and Craft of the Costume Designer for Opera and Ballet - Alta Moda, Fashion Design - Accessories Design: Leather Goods, Footwear, Eyewear - Fashion Jewellery Design - Creative Knitwear Design Choose the appropriate level and then the course that most interests you, from the list above, read the brief carefully and develop your application project! 2
Project brief Street Art, between protest and culture Hence we ask you to research the theme above and analyse, to your best ability, the relationship between cinema and fashion and use this as a starting point to inspire your scholarship project. Your project is required to reflect the specific subject that you are applying for but can be in any form whatsoever (for e.g. visual, video, audio or another original format of your choosing). Please take into consideration the following: q Demonstrate a variety of skills and level; q Show the originality of expression and your creative thinking; q Communicate effectively and clearly; q Prove your profound interest in your subject specialism Please remember the Accademia receives a great number of projects and therefore projects should not be excessively long, if written or in film format. 3
1. FOREWORD Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM), through the international competition, aims to offer interested students the opportunity to obtain scholarships for the following courses: Bachelor s Degree (180 Credits ECTS) - 3 academic years: (1) Costume & Fashion Design; (2) Fashion Communication: Editor Styling and Communication; (3) Media Design & Multimedia Arts. Master s Degree (60 Credits ECTS) 1 academic year: (1) Art and Craft of the Costume Designer for Opera and Ballet; (2) Alta Moda, Fashion Design; (3) Fashion Accessories Design. Leather Goods, Footwear, Eyewear; (4) Fashion Jewellery Design; (5) Creative Knitwear Design. - For 3-year Bachelor s Degrees (BA), ACM will award up to 3 (three) scholarships for each BA course, equal to 100%, 60% and 40% respectively of the tuition fee. The enrolment fee will still be payable by the scholarship winners, while the remaining tuition fees will still be payable by the 2 nd (40% tuition fee still due) and 3 rd (60% tuition fee still due) ranked students. - For 1-year Master s Degrees, ACM will award up to 1 (one) scholarship for each Master s course, equal to 100% of the tuition fee. The enrolment fee will still be payable by the student. 4
2. COMPETITION AIMS AND AVAILABILITY OF SCHOLARSHIPS The main aim of the international competition is to award up to a maximum of 14 student scholarships. A Commission (see articles 8 and 9) will evaluate the application projects and will award, according to its undisputed judgement, the scholarships based on merit and quality. The scholarships will NOT be awarded in the event of unsatisfactory quality of work presented and/or a minimum of course participants not reached by the competition deadline. On this last point, for the scholarships to be awarded, the minimum of course participants required will be: - A minimum of 20 first year new starts for each 3-year Bachelor s for 1 scholarship award equal to 100% of the tuition fee; - A minimum of 25 first year new starts for each 3-year Bachelor s for 1 scholarship award equal to 60% of the tuition fee; - A minimum of 25 first year new starts for each 3-year Bachelor s for 1 scholarship award equal to 40% of the tuition fee; - At least 11 for each 1-year Master s (MA1) for 1 scholarship award equal to 100% of the tuition fee; For the 3-year Bachelor s Degree scholarships, scholarship students will be required to achieve a minimum average grade of 27/30 and a course attendance rate of at least 80% for the scholarship to be confirmed for the subsequent academic year. Should the scholarship student fall short of both specified minimum requirements above, he/she will lose the right to the scholarship and will be liable to pay the tuition fee in full in order to continue their studies. 5
3. COMPETITION TIMELINE APPLICATION PROJECT DEADLINES For projects to be considered, ACM will need to receive applications and related projects no later than 30 April 2018 for both 3-year Bachelor s as well as for Master s. ACM reserves the right to modify the length of the competition, in which case a new deadline would be promptly communicated. 4. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS For 3-year Bachelor s Degree, participation is open to all those who have successfully completed - or are in the process of completing during the 2017_2018 academic year - a recognized Secondary High School Diploma or equivalent, achieved both nationally and internationally. For 1-year Master s Degree (MA1), participation is open to all those who have achieved a 3-year Bachelor s Degree award, equivalent of 180 credits ECTS, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education. 6
5. COMPETITION PARTICIPATION PROCEDURE Participants are required to complete in full the Participation Form (included in this document on pages 11-13) and to send it in one of the following ways: - By e-mail (scholarships@accademiacostumeemoda.it); or - By hand to the Information, Orientation & Marketing Office of the Accademia; or - By post to: Scholarships, Accademia Costume & Moda, via della Rondinella 2, 00186 Rome. The Participation Form, together with the candidate s Project, will have to be received by ACM NO LATER than 30 April 2018 for both 3-year Bachelor s as well as for Master s. The Participation Form, attached in this document, is also available on the Accademia website (www.accademiacostumeemoda.it) and/or by requesting it by telephone at +39-06-6864132 or by sending an e-mail to scholarships@accademiacostumeemoda.it. 6. ADMISSION CRITERIA Incomplete or incorrectly compiled Participation Forms, as well as those received after the deadlines stated in articles 3 and 5 of the Regulations, will not be taken into consideration. Presented projects will need to respect the project brief illustrated on page 3 and the Competition Regulations. The Scholarship Commission, has the right not to accept projects according to its undisputed judgement. Therefore, should the Scholarships Commission deem the projects of insufficient quality and/or should the number of the course participants be below the minimum requirements illustrated in article 2 of the Regulations, the Scholarships will not be awarded. 7
7. GENERAL PARTICIPATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS The participant declares under his/her responsibility to be the sole originator and owner of the presented project and that the information contained are not to be considered as confidential, are not covered by intellectual property rights and/or third party utilization rights, and are not in violation of any copyright and/or any other relevant third party right. The participant agrees upfront to renounce any legal or non-legal action, claim and/or initiative against ACM and relieves it from any responsibility, of any sort, in the event of: - Loss, delay, damage, incompleteness, non-legibility, unsuccessful delivery of the projects and/or eventual related material and/or prototypes; - Malfunctioning of participation forms, software, hardware, internet and any other electronic platforms that may be utilized; - Delays, incompleteness of data transmitted by PC, e-mail and/or via the internet; - Any event, not attributable to ACM, that may cause the interruption or variation of the discussed initiative; - Any loss or damage deriving from the participation to the discussed initiative; - Any possible spelling or typing or printing mistake related to the initiative being discussed. Each participant agrees to consider ACM exempted from any direct or indirect responsibility resulting from events related to the initiative, that may cause prejudice and/or bias to the participant. Each participant, gives his/her consent, in accordance with the law, to utilise his/her name, his/ her image, his/her voice, and for the purpose of promoting the initiative, renounces to any form of compensation and/or request and/or claim. 8
8. COMMISSION AND SCHOLARSHIP ASSIGNMENT The Scholarship Commission will examine and evaluate the single projects according to its unquestionable professional judgement. The projects and related material received by ACM in the participation to the competition will not be returned to the participant, unless specific requested and in any case no later than 30 days from the notification of scholarship outcome. By sending the participation material the candidate agrees to fully and unconditionally accept the Regulations herein described. 9. NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP ASSIGNMENT AND ACCEPTANCE The winners will be notified of the scholarship award by e-mail or by telephone by Accademia. The scholarship will only be effectively granted after the formal acceptance by the winner by email (scholarships@accademiacostumeemoda.it) within the expiry date of 30 June 2018. The scholarship winners will also have to pay the enrolment fee due within the expiry date of 30 June 2018. The winners are not obliged to accept the scholarship award and are entitled not to accept the scholarship. The failure to formally accept the award and/or the failure to pay the enrolment fee within the specified dates will determine the loss of the assigned scholarship. In this instance, the Scholarship Commission reserves the right to assign the Scholarship to other participants. 9
10. TREATMENT OF PERSONAL DATA By participating in the competition candidates agree that personal data communicated to the Accademia (Accademia di Costume e di Moda srl) for the purpose of their participation will be treated according to Law Decree n.196 of 30/06/2003, it being understood that in any event candidates withhold the right to exercise the rights contained in article 7 of the aforementioned law. 11. DISPUTES Any dispute related to the present Regulations and to the Competition will be deferred to the decision of a unique arbitrator, jointly nominated by the parties, or in the event of disagreement, nominated by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Craftsmanship of Rome. The non-ritual arbitration, will be domiciled and discussed in Rome and the arbitrator will find a resolution in fairness within 60 (sixty) days. The parties agree to accept with immediate effect the arbitrator s resolution, which is from now accepted as expression of contractual will.
