Detroit PAL Is Changing the Game Detroit PAL has seized the opportunity to lead the redevelopment of the historical old Tiger Stadium, located on Michigan and Trumbull The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation recently approved the redevelopment plans presented by Detroit PAL A $3 million federal grant secured by Senator Carl Levin made through the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy has been earmarked for Detroit PAL. Bringing Sports Back to Old Tiger Stadium For generations of Detroit sports fans, there s no place more hallowed than The Corner at Michigan and Trumbull, home of old Tiger Stadium The footprint of the diamond echoes the cheers of millions of fans gathered to watch the greats play ball Now, our city s youth can play on this same field.
We All Know That Sports are one of the greatest tools we have to help children develop positive character traits and life values Team sports teach important life lessons like positive attitude, mentorship, building character and playing by the rules Physical activity can improve cognitive skills and academic performance Kids who play sports are eight times as likely to remain active into adulthood Young athletes are three times more likely to graduate high school and go on to college

My son s overall confidence has improved greatly in his ability to overcome shyness he was very shy before this basketball season. He loves the game and remains focused on his education. A 2014 survey of over 3,000 athletes, coaches and parents resulted in a Detroit PAL satisfaction score of 4.41 on a scale of 5.0, an increase from 4.18 in 2013
