Project Set-Up (12 Mar, 2pm 5.30pm) Report at Annexe Foyer to take attendance, and confirm booth number Items to Prepare: Display materials (poster and exhibits) Bring your own Velcro tapes (both sides) for mounting of poster Bring copies of abstract (for visitors) Bring copies of 2-page summary (for judges) 3

Poster Reflects the research done in 2012 only Title of your project should be clearly displayed Use font sizes that could be read from at least 1m away All images, graphs, photos must be acknowledged e.g. photograph taken by, all photographs are self-taken or Image taken from.., graph are selfdrawn.. 7
Poster Awards, medals, business cards, flags, logos, CD s, endorsements and/or acknowledgements (graphic or written), unless the item(s) are an integral part of the project, are not allowed on the poster during Judging Day. 8

Poster Be organised display follows a sequence, is logically presented and easy to read Title of Project, Abstract, Introduction, Aim, Hypothesis, Method, Results, Conclusion, Future Research, References should be properly and concisely displayed No references to H3 projects allowed (examination labels, candidate index, title of H3 programme and examining agency must be removed) 11

Project Set-Up (12 Mar) Upon completion, tidy up immediate vicinity Get SSEF officials to inspect your display (poster / exhibits / laptops / log books before leaving) Sticker labels will be given for each item which are cleared for display After inspection, no change allowed without approval from SSEF official No valuables to be left behind Science Centre reserves the right to keep the displays of winners 14
Judging Day
Judging Day (13 Mar) 9 am 6 pm (All participants must be present) Report at Annexe Foyer at 8.15am Attire School uniform with blazer Collect your SSEF ID tag & collar pin and wear them at all times Lunch provided (1 pm 2 pm, announcement will be made) 17
Judging Day (13 Mar) Remain at your booth until your project has been judged by all assigned judges. Judges will sign on students card (to be given to you on that day). Proceed to Registration Point with the card after your project has been judged by all assigned judges. If you need to go to the restroom, inform participants next to your booth. Try not to take longer than 5 min. 18
Judging Day (13 Mar) You may bring reading / self study materials but games, cards and expensive personal items are not allowed. Do not remove the display posters from the booth at the end of the day. Keep booth and area around tidy and clean. Do not block walkways or create traffic. Keep noise level down at all times. Be considerate for others. Students with multiple projects, stay alert. 19

SSEF Special Award To recognise and reward students who demonstrate an outstanding level of initiative, resourcefulness, independent thinking and resilience over the course of the project. Students are shortlisted based on the nominations by the judges. Shortlisted students will undergo an interview on 14 Mar (Thu) from 8.30 9.30 am at Sci Centre. 25
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2013 2 Individual Projects and 1 Team Project will be chosen from the winners of SSEF 2013 to represent Singapore in ISEF 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA Singaporeans or PRs 12 17 May 2013 http://www.societyforscience.org/intelisef2013

Broadcom MASTERS International Delegate To encourage, reward and celebrate the mastery of science, technology, engineering and math among secondary school students. To be selected from students in the Science Mentorship Programme (SMP) or Sec 3 students only. If a team project is selected, the delegate will be based on the nomination of the school. 31
ATS Short-listing (22 Mar) Only ATS participants who have won an SSEF award will be invited for short-listing. You will receive an email notification by 19 Mar with the judging schedule and venue. Short-listing will take the format of short 15 min interviews with a panel of judges. Bring your project poster and log book to show to the judges. 32
ATS Final Judging (22 Apr) If you have been short-listed as a finalist on 22 Mar, you will be invited to attend the final judging. You will receive an email notification by 2 Apr with the judging schedule and venue. The final judging will take the format of 30 min interview with a panel of judges. Prepare a 5 min PowerPoint presentation for the interview. 33
