13th Chronic Wound Conference Achieving Success: Mission Possible Thursday, May 18, 2017 DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry Mars, PA SPONSORED BY Advanced Wound Healing and Lymphedema Center Allegheny Health Network Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Conference Overview/Intended Audience: As wound care practitioners, we are on an endless mission to achieve healing. However due to complex challenges that we face on a daily basis, it may seem at times that our mission is impossible. One thing for certain is that to achieve success, practitioners need access to key resources. Most importantly, access to high quality education along with advanced evidence-based treatment interventions is vital. This spring, the Advanced Wound Healing and Lymphedema Center at Allegheny General Hospital will sponsor its 13th Chronic Wound Conference, a full day event dedicated to elevating the practice of all attendees. Key topics will be addressed by a distinguished faculty of nationally and internationally renowned experts. Included will be a focus on the management of diabetic and pressure ulcers as well as methods of wound bed preparation and team development. Numerous vendors will be on hand to display the latest products available. The conference is designed for a multidisciplinary audience who practice in all care settings. The course is intended for, but not limited to, physicians, physician assistants, podiatrists, nurses, physical therapists, dieticians and all others involved in wound management. This premier event provides a one of a kind opportunity to network with peers and learn from the very best. As wound care clinicians continue to pursue educational advancement, achieving the best patient outcomes will become not only a goal to work towards, but a reality and a mission that is possible to accomplish. Objectives: n Understand the etiology of pressure ulcers: pressure, shear and microclimate and also individual risk factors n Recognize the importance of utilizing a multi-disciplinary team when assessing, treating and preventing pressure ulcers n Identify crucial elements of clinical documentation as it relates to pressure ulcers n Expand your knowledge of clinical pathways for comprehensive management of diabetic foot ulcers n Understand the biomechanics of diabetic foot ulcer formation and the critical role off-loading plays in healing n Enhance your knowledge regarding the important role physical therapy plays in wound care n Understand the clinical rationale regarding the appropriate use of different methods of wound debridement n Learn about the pathophysiology of osteomyelitis and conservative vs surgical management
