WELCOME Dear Coach/Administrator, It is our pleasure to welcome you to Folsom Lake College. This guide has been provided to assist you and your staff with the locations, policies, and procedures applicable when participating in an athletic event at FLC. Additionally, information is provided regarding hotels, dining, and entertainment in Folsom and the surrounding areas. However long your stay may be, we hope this information assists in enhancing the experience for you, your staff, and your student-athletes. The Intercollegiate Athletics Department is committed to providing a high standard of excellence during home athletic events. FLC staff and student athletes will adhere to the highest ethical standards of coduct and decorum, in accordance with CCCAA, Bay Valley, and Big 8 Conference bylaws and policies. Please be aware that game day adjustments to some of the procedures listed herein may occur based on weather, other athletic or college related events, or unforeseen occurrences. Any changes made on the day of your event will be made in collaboration with appropriate personnel from all applicable institutions. DIRECTIONS-FACILITY LOCATIONS Directions to FLC Main Campus From the Sacramento area, take Highway 50 east toward Lake Tahoe. Take the East Bidwell Street/Scott Road exit and turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed north on East Bidwell for 1.6 miles. Turn right at Scholar Way. From the Lake Tahoe area, take Highway 50 west toward Sacramento. Take the East Bidwell Street/Scott Road exit and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed north on East Bidwell for 1.6 miles. Turn right at Scholar Way. From the Roseville area, heading east on Douglas Blvd., turn right onto Folsom Auburn Rd. Continue south 4.4 miles and turn left on Greenback Lane. Follow Greenback Lane, which becomes Riley St., as you pass through Old Folsom and just past Sutter Middle School turn left on East Bidwell St. Continue southeast for 3.5 miles, passing Oak Avenue Parkway, and turn left at Scholar Way. Indoor Sports Falcons Gymnasium is located on the east side of campus accross from the Falcons Athletics Complex. Lots A and B best serve this venue for fan and bus parking. Outdoor Sports The Falcons Athletic Complex is located on the east side of campus across from the gym. This Complex houses the baseball, softball, soccer, track, tennis, and cross country venues. Lot A best serves this complex for fan and bus parking. Team loading and unloading can occur in the small lot just inside the Athletic Complex. PARKING-TRANSPORTATION Parking on the Folsom Lake College Campus Fan Parking/Parking Permits/Fees Parking permits are required to park in all campus lots. Day permits can be purchased at any of the daily permit machines located in or around each lot for $2.00. Parking permit regulations are enforced 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. All other regulations are enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week. See the campus map on page 7 for directions to parking lots and list of areas by sport. Special Arrangements for Buses/Vans Special arrangements will be made for access to a parking area close to the appropriate facility. Buses and vans used for team transportation to the event do not require parking permits. An Event Parking Pass may be issued by the Athletic Department if necessary. Athletic department staff will provide this pass upon your arrival at the appropriate venue. Off Campus Events If you will be participating in and event that is not on the FLC campus, you will be notified if special arrangements are necessary for parking. DIRECTIONS-External FACILITY LOCATIONS Golf Men s Golf plays their home matches at Rancho Murieta Country Club. Please see the map below for the driections to the course. From Sacramento Take Highway 50 east to Bradshaw Road. Turn south to Jackson Road (State Route 16), then east to the main entrance. 24 miles. From Stockton Drive north on Highway 99 to Dillard Road Exit. Turn right and drive northeast to Jackson Road (State Route 16). Turn right and drive east to the main entrance 5.3 miles. From San Francisco Cross the Bay Bridge and follow Interstate 80 to Sacramento. Drive straight ahead to Highway 50 (Placerville), then followdirections from Sacramento. From San Jose - Concord - Walnut Creek Drive north on Interstate 680 to Interstate 80, then east to Highway 50 (Placerville). See directions from Sacramento. From San Jose - 154 miles. ATHLETIC TRAINING The Folsom Lake College Athletic Training staff provides comprehensive prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation services for our student-athletes and visiting student-athletes. It is the responsibility of the Athletic Training Staff to evaluate and treat injuries that occur during our athletic practices and contests. The Athletic Training room is located in PE-102 and an Athletic Trainer will be available at least 1 hour before every athletic contest held at Folsom Lake College for any athletic training services needed by visiting teams. If there are any special services needed (E-Stim, Ultrasound, etc.) please have your athletic trainer contact me directly prior to arriving at Folsom Lake College. Water, cups, injury ice, and a blood kit will be provided to the visiting team s bench. EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN Sports Medicine Personnel: A certified athletic trainer is on site for competition. Practice coverage depends on availability of certified athletic trainer. The certified athletic trainer can be reached in the Athletic Training Room in PE-102 (916-608-6802). Emergency Communication: The preferred method of emergency communication is a cell phone. Emergency Equipment: The emergency equipment available will be in the coach s first aid kit or visiting team s blood borne pathogens kit during competition. Additional equipment will be with the certified athletic trainer or in the Athletic Training Room in PE-102 (916-608-6802). Roles of First Responders: 1. Immediate care of the injured or ill student-athlete 2. Emergency equipment retrieval 3. Activation of emergency medical system (EMS) a. Notify campus police at 916-555-2221 and provide your name, location, telephone number, number of individuals injured, condition of injured, first aid treatment administered and other information as requested 4. Direction of EMS to the scene a. Send a FLC Coach, staff member, administrator, or campus police to take out appropriate barriers from parking lot b. Designate an individual to flag down EMS and direct them to the scene c. Scene Control: Limit scene to first aid providers and move bystanders away from the area. The tennis courts and track stadium are accessed straight ahead. CCCAA DECORUM 4.4 DECORUM (Adopted April 3, 2009; effective July 1, 2009.) 4.4.1 DECORUM Is the CCCAA code of behavior for all participants in sponsored athletic events. For the purpose of this policy, the following definitions apply: A. PARTICIPANT is a player, coach, team member, team attendant, official, or college staff member. B. EVENT is defined as the time a team or participant arrives at the event site until the time the team or participant leaves the event site. C. EJECTION Removal from a scrimmage/game/meet/match of a participant for the remainder of the event. 1. Sport rulebook infraction. Removal from the event for actions not under the jurisdiction of this policy, but are covered by the rules of the sport. 2. Decorum violation: Removal of a participant for verbal or physical misconduct, or unsportsmanlike conduct. a. Verbal misconduct or unsportsmanlike conduct is defined as, but not limited to, unsportsmanlike tactics, such as using profanity or vulgarity, taunting, spitting on an opponent, ridiculing, finger pointing, making obscene gestures, throwing gang signs, baiting an opponent, inciting undesirable crowd reactions, persistent arguing with officials, or aggressive behavior toward officials. b. Physical misconduct is defined as, but not limited to, any attempt by a participant to contact another participant in a combative manner unrelated to the sport. Such acts include striking or attempting to strike a participant whether or not there is contact. *Cited from the July 2013 Edition of the CCCAA Consitution and Bylaws CCCAA Decorum Statement (To be read prior to every event by PA) Fans, the California Community College Athletic Association Decorum Policy is in effect throughout this event. Please be respectful and courteous to each other. The CCCAA strongly encourages all fans to avoid using profane language, taunting or making inappropriate gestures, or non-verbal signs. In addition, any noncredentialed person that interrupts play will immediately be escorted out of the venue by security staff. Those violating the CCCAA Decorum Policy will be warned once.
