X-Ray February 2, 2012 The Dearborn Rotary X-Ray Thursday s Meeting Summary President John Artis called the meeting to order. John fish delivered the invocation. Today s program is February, Youth month, where the Dearborn Rotary Club hosts select students from Dearborn local high schools. There were a lot of guests: The family of Sisson Winner Amanda Amen were present to see Amanda receive the Award. Ron Gutkowski representing the Dearborn Schools. Rasmus Johnson our exchange student from Denmark was in attendance. Amy Bazzy & Majed Rizk announced the Shares and Cares breakfast will be held at the Fairlane Club Grille on March 30. Majed Rizk acknowledged all Rotary members who sponsored tables last year. For this year s upcoming event, members were asked to sponsor tables early since the number of tables is limited to 15. Jack Mueller presented Darlene Schoolmaster with the Paul Harris Fellow Award, along with a certificate. Individuals who have contributed more than $1000 to the Annual Program Fund, the Polio Plus Fund or the Humanitarian Grants Program of the Rotary Foundation are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. Additionally, individual Rotary clubs may from time to time honor individuals as Paul Harris Fellows. These honorees are individuals who meet high professional and personal standards set forth by Paul Harris. Paul Harris recognition is not limited to Rotarians. A Paul Harris Fellow receives a special certificate and a gold pin. At the discretion of the Fellow's club, the Fellow may also receive a gold medallion on a blueand-gold ribbon. Multiple-time Paul Harris Fellows are recognized as they continue to contribute. Additionally, Paul Harris Fellows receive recognition points which they may contribute towards the recognition of other members as Paul Harris Fellows. Jack Mueller announced the birthdays and anniversaries of Rotary members. Susan G. announced that Marge Powell is recuperating in Renaissance at the Henry ford Village and welcomes calls (313-562-3655) and visits. John Artis presented Bob Z. to introduce today s program. Bob Z. introduced today s program as Dearborn Rotary Youth Month, in addition today is a special day since the Dearborn Rotary Club will present the Harry Sisson Scholarship award to the winner. The Harry Sisson Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Dearborn schools high school student and is based on academic achievement. Bob Z. announced the Harry Sisson Scholarship goes to Ms. Amanda amen from Dearborn. Jim Ives presented the award to Ms. Amanda Amen. Bob G. announced the names of the student and their respective high schools. The students were called upon to come in front of all the members and introduced themselves and share briefly their dreams and aspirations. Every year the youth group gets better and every year we hope they join the field of service with Rotary says Bob G.
