In Kansas sesquicentennial year, over 48,000 Kansans attended KHC-supported Statehood lectures, presentations, book discussions, film discussions, and exhibitions and discussed what it means to be a Kansan over time and across generations. KHC s success in 2011 is the result of collaboration between talented people across the state: Friends of the Humanities, local project directors, event participants, humanities scholars, and KHC s Board of Directors and staff. KHC receives income from diverse public and private sources. The National Endowment for the Humanities remained the single most important source of income in 2011, providing 77% of Council revenues. The private sector provided 12%, with the remaining 11% coming from the State of Kansas. In 2011, Kansans contributed $650,355 in Cost Share and In-Kind Services.
