Course Information Course Overview Nursing care of children with gastrointestinal and nutritional problems can be challenging. This one-day conference will update nurses in the latest gastrointestinal and nutritional topics. The presentations will address care issues related to both inpatient and outpatient management. Topics will include useful information to all nurses involved in the care of pediatric patients with gastrointestinal diagnoses, including advanced practice nurses. This conference is directed to all nurses, including inpatient, outpatient, school and advanced practice nurses. General Information The conference will be held in the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building at The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia. The registration fee is $100 and includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking and syllabus material. Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: Identify nursing care needs of children with challenging gastrointestinal and nutritional problems Discuss how nursing influences change Discuss various GI conditions such as functional abdominal pain, celiac disease, IBD and pancreatitis Recognize the complications of foreign body ingestion Understand the dietary restrictions of the student with dietary restriction and food allergies Identify techniques to help the child with school avoidance Nursing Accreditation Statement The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation.
