LEADERSHIP FREDERICK COUNTY Preparing, connecting, and empowering the next leaders of Frederick County 2016-2017 Application
ABOUT THE PROGRAM Thank you for applying to Leadership Frederick County! LFC is an exciting nine-month exploration of community leadership, local industry, and regional opportunities. Participants meet a diverse group of professionals, gain mentorship, personal development, and community involvement. Presented by the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, LFC is now in its 29th year and has nearly 900 graduates. The next class begins in August, and has a full lineup of sessions. Here s what to expect from the program: A welcome reception to celebrate your acceptance A two-day retreat for team building Class days exploring agriculture, government, public safety, the arts, education, economic development, and more A closing retreat When I think about how LFC has impacted my life, one word comes to mind: connections. Not only did I learn how interconnected Frederick County is, but I also met people who I would have otherwise never crossed paths with. Those people connections correlate to much of what I m involved with in Frederick today. Whether it s serving on boards or writing an article for a local magazine, I can directly attribute the opportunity to a connection I made through LFC. Liza Hawkins, LFC 2011 State Farm A graduation ceremony Each day showcases industry, background, and a discussion of opportunities and challenges for community leaders. Participants enjoy exclusive tours, access to influencers, and interactive activities. Class members also take part in a Leaders On Loan project. Through this program, classmates partner with local nonprofits to lead initiatives. This partnership provides experience and connections for the leaders and help to nonprofits serving our community. Ask a graduate or current class member about their LFC experience. A full list of graduates is available online. We look forward to receiving your application! Rick Weldon Frederick County Chamber of Commerce LFC Graduate 1998 2 I learned how all the different aspects of the county are interconnected, and I saw how that can be leveraged to drive positive change. Through the contacts I gained, I was invited to join a local Board, enabling me to help build the workforce of the future to the needs of my company, and to help build technical skills in local communities to suit the needs of the County.
